5 Reasons Blog Fail This YearOh crap!

It’s the beginning of a brand new year and she’s already talking about failing.

I know what you’re thinking but I don’t want you to fail, I don’t want anyone to fail which is why I’m writing this post now.

Things are always changing online so you either learn to adapt or you WILL fail.

It’s a new year and everyone has written out their goals and they’re ready to go to work.  What breaks my heart though are those entrepreneurs who are hard at work taking those action steps yet never really getting to that next phase.

It’s been a very slow journey for a lot of bloggers that I know while others are moving forward and continuing to grow their blogs and businesses each year.

Those who are not reaching their goals either are doing the same things they’ve always done expecting different results or tweaked a few things here and there and hoped they would see different results.

I was once where those entrepreneurs are now and it does NOT feel good at all.  To put all that hard work into growing your blog and your business only to realize that you’re not picking up any traction at all.

If you’re not growing then neither is their business.

My passion in life is to help those entrepreneurs understand why that’s happening.

Is that you?  Have I peaked your curiosity at least a little bit?

If so then I want you to read this post and then let me know your thoughts in the comment section below okay!

So what the heck could possibly be going on! What in the world are you doing or not doing that would cause you to remain in this same place!

What are these other entrepreneur doing that you’re not!

That’s what I want to address with you in this post.  I’m going to list 5 reasons your blog will fail this year if you don’t do something about it now.

Reason #1 – Your Message Isn’t Clear

What do I mean by that exactly.

Most people that come online, although they’re eager to build their own business, have that entrepreneurial spirit yet they don’t have the right tools.

I can sympathize because that was once me.  I just wanted to start my own business so that I never would have to work for anyone ever again but I wasn’t clear on what I wanted to do nor the type of business I wanted to have.

Most newer entrepreneurs are the same way.  All they know is that they want to escape their corporate jobs so in order to do that they have to build their own business.

They give themselves a couple of years to make this happen.

So they throw up a blog, figure out something they are good at or want to be and start writing content.  The problem is that they aren’t clear on what it is they really want to do yet which means their message isn’t either.

You have to be crystal clear on what it is that you want to do or you can’t expect to have great results.  It’s just not going to happen.

Have you ever visited someone’s blog and you enjoyed their content but you left their site still not knowing exactly what it is that they really do?  Well there ya have it.

You need to make sure that when someone finds your content, they KNOW they are at the right place.  You’ve got the answers to all their burning questions.

Reason #2 – You’re Not Talking To Your Target Audience

Let’s say you’ve been blogging for a little while and you continue to see a steady increase in readers and people commenting on your content.

That’s awesome news so let me congratulate you.

Isn’t it the best feeling ever when your audience is digging your content?  Hopefully you’re having a lot of engagement and conversations are taking place in the comment section too.

Yay!!!

Here’s the big question though.

Are they taking action!

Are they becoming your customers and/or clients?

That’s your main goal right?

Sure, we all love to help people but if you’re here building a business and you have a goal set for the time frame you want to start seeing some serious results then you better be in front of the right audience.

If you’re not then sure, they’ll enjoy reading your content and maybe even chatting with you from time to time but your goal should be to get them to eventually buy your services and/or products.

Only you know what’s going on behind the scenes, no one else.  So having awesome wonderful readers and even friends support you is one thing.  You need to get very serious though about getting in front of the right audience if you intend to see some of that success this year.

Reason #3 – Your Content Isn’t Serving Your Audience

If you know who your audience is then hopefully you know how to help them.

Now the problem a lot of people have is that they are SO eager to write about what’s popular because if that’s getting plenty of views right now then it’s possible that theirs can as well.

While that is a goal we all want to achieve with our content it’s not going to serve this particular purpose if what you’re writing about isn’t what you actually do.

Here is an example.

Let’s say your niche is freelance writing and you’re here to teach people how they too can enter into this profession.

Maybe you have a free report to share with them and as your product you have an eBook that tells them everything they need to do.

What you don’t want to do is write about how to blog or which plugins you should be using because that’s not your target audience and you aren’t going to be helping those who are on your site looking for ways they too can enter into the freelance writing profession.

You will never build a business if you’re writing about everything but your business.  By throwing in a post or two about other topics, you’re just confusing your audience because they’re expecting something entirely different.

Reason #4 – You Aren’t Being a Hero to One Person at a Time

Your goal should be to help one person at a time.  If you’re able to help more than one person at a time then that’s just an added bonus.

Although we’re online and we have a much bigger audience you still should be thinking about helping one person with just one problem with just one solution.

Why you might ask?

I can’t tell you how many times someone has said to me, “Wow Adrienne, I feel like you were talking just to me.  You were reading my mind and boy did I need help with this”.

That’s how people will be able to connect with you.  That should be your goal.

When someone reads your post you want them feeling like you’re talking just to them, that you knew what their issue was and how to help them.

Your goal should be to take each post that you do and address just one person in your target audience at a time, cover only one specific problem that they have and then give them that solution.

People are online searching for help, they’re searching for content that will solve their problem, that will give them a solution, or point them in the direction of where they can find even more information that will help.

You want to be that person, you want to be that one they come to and you want to be that person they want to work with.

You start by not speaking to everyone but instead just speaking to only one person.

Reason #5 – You Aren’t Consistently Doing All of the Above

That’s right, you can’t just do a couple of these steps and expect great results.  You do however have to do each and every one of them on a consistent and regular basis.

I’ve been where you are so I understand.

This is a new year and you’ve got new goals to meet.  You will never meet them if you’re off course.

Sure, there is a lot more to how to get there than just mentioned in this post but at least you now know what you need to be doing in order to get you back on the right course.

I want you to succeed.  I want you to be successful.  I want your business to explode and have tons of people eager and willing to buy from you and/or work with you.  It’s possible to achieve, trust me.

This is what you need to do:

SmallBlueArrowIs your site and your content clear enough for your audience

SmallBlueArrowAre you speaking to just them in a way they can relate

SmallBlueArrowAre you helping them with their issues one person at a time

SmallBlueArrowAre you consistently doing this with every single post that you write
