Is Celebrating 5 Years

by Adrienne Smith on June 19, 2014

On this day five years ago I transferred my static website over to a WordPress blog.  I guess that means that I’m officially celebrating my anniversary instead of an actual birthday. was given birth on August 3, 2003 by someone with this same name.  I was still in corporate America plugging away at my 8 to 5 job unaware of where my life would eventually lead.

While still at my day job the only thing I did online was some searches on Google for our company and I did eventually maintain our company website.  That was only because my brother took it over and he made it easy for me to update.  I was in commercial real estate at that time so we posted our properties for sale on our site and I was the one that created all our flyers.

June 27, 2006 was the last activity that saw and it went back to domain heaven.  I left corporate America in January of 2007 and came online that March.  I purchased this domain on September 1, 2008.

As instructed of course I tried to get the dot com extension but someone already had it.  It was given birth on October 12, 2003 and was a free blog at that time up until January 26, 2005 where it has remained dormant ever since.

They were asking $350 for it at the time but there was no way I was paying that.  I guess they were to hang on to it because someone would eventually pay that much.  There is an actress, a doctor and a lawyer with my same name so obviously they might have assumed one of them would want it bad enough.

They were horribly mistaken because it’s yet to change hands.  While researching all of this information though I noticed that they finally dropped the price to $188.  I’ll keep my eyes on it to see if they’ll go any lower.  I’m really not even sure I want it now after all these years.

Last year at this time I shared more of my story and how I ended up here if you’d like to read that post. Most of you probably have heard my story numerous times but if you haven’t feel free to check that out.

I thought I would have a little fun and show you what my site looked like over the years.  You can tell how green I was coming into this.

In case you weren’t aware, you can go to the WayBack Machine to browse your site’s history but it won’t show every single activity and at times won’t pull your site up well.  I experienced this because I wanted to show you what my static website had looked like but oh well.

My blog also isn’t showing up until early 2010 for some reason although I was blogging three times a week on it.  That’s just strange but that’s technology for ya.

Here is a screenshot of my blog on March 17, 2010

Here is a screenshot of my blog on December 28, 2011

Here is a screenshot of my blog on November 11, 2012

Here is a screenshot of my blog on June 20, 2013

As you can tell I changed my header last year to what it is today so no need in sharing that one right!

I decided to have some fun so I headed over to PowToon and created this short video.  This is the first time I used this program but it was a lot easier than I had thought.  How did I do?

The Next Step

As you all know, I will be releasing my product this year and I’m currently shooting for probably late September or early October mainly due to so many people off having fun this summer.

It’s not going to be over the top mainly because I stressed myself out so much last year about this that I decided to go back to the basics.

My readers and subscribers have been after me to create a product that will walk them through how they too can build this type of community with their blogs.  I’ve shared many times over the years what I’ve done to get here but it’s hard to share it all.

What I’ve decided to do is basically tell my story and that includes everything.

I love helping people and I’m hoping that this product can help even more.  I’m leaving nothing out and will be going into much detail of the behind the scenes stuff.

I firmly believe that I’ve gotten to this place because of the relationships I’ve been able to build.  I didn’t understand it myself in the beginning but I actually fell into a lot of what I’m doing today so I’m eager to share that with you too.

I’m hoping that if it is something you chose to purchase that you’ll fully understand why relationships are the most important thing for helping take your business in the right direction.

The Next 5 Years

So what happens after that?

I’ve never been a big planner so I like to see where life it going to take me.  Hopefully I’ll still be blogging here though because I sure do enjoy it.

I’m a firm believer that we all bring into our lives what we desire.

At this very moment I’m focusing on getting this product finished and launched.  Once that’s over with I believe it will bring me more consulting clients and then I’ll see which direction I want to go after that.

Need Help Blogging

Let’s Celebrate Shall We

So I’ll be celebrating all day long because it’s not every day we make 5 years blogging on the same domain and have the kind of results I’ve kept on having.

I’ve had my ups and downs but you guys have been awesome and I can’t thank you enough.  I would like to say a special thanks to everyone who has been with me for the last three years and for those I’m now able to call my friend.  I appreciate you all.

Hope you’ll help me celebrate by leaving me your comment and sharing my post with your friends.  Maybe they are questioning whether or not they want to continue blogging and my story can inspire them to keep on going.

All I know is that it’s definitely time to do some partying!

Hey Kumar,

Thank you so much and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to meet you as well Kumar. I do believe the feeling is mutual and I’ve learned a great deal from you as well. I was so honored to have you write a post for me and share your knowledge with my readers. I know they all appreciated it as well, great job.

Oh, you’re too kind but I’m still very nervous about the whole process. Probably why I’ve been dragging my feet so much but they always say the first one is the scariest right! The few people I’ve let look at it told me they liked the way I laid it out and thought by me putting it in a story format that they can relate so much better. I’m hoping so but I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

Thank you so much Kumar for all your support and your friendship. It truly means the world to me.

You have a wonderful day as well and I’ll be celebrating all day long. Yay!!!

Hi Adrienne,

Happy anniversary! 😀

I’m not sure I realised that you’ve been doing this for as long as you have. But it shows, as you clearly excel at what you do and this is why you’re always the first person I recommend to anyone wanting to get ideas about how they should approach blogging.

It’s interesting to see the different headers you’ve used. You know what? I REALLY like the previous one! I do think the current one is fantastic though, as it incorporates a CTA and opt-in form. Very clever indeed! For me, a combination of both would be the ideal solution. But that’s just my own opinion and preference of course!

Great job with the little video. I’ve played around a bit with PowToon myself and it’s a very useful tool. It’s amazing just what is becoming available to us these days, especially when it comes to video tools.

Congratulations, well done and happy Thursday! I hope you have a great day and have fun celebrating! :-)

Hi Glenn,

Thank you and I’m happy to be celebrating today.

Yeah, I’ve been around for a pretty long time now starting off in my early days about as lost as you can be. Having no direction or what I wanted to do yet what I was even capable of doing. I seriously had no clue so you name it I tried it. The blog has definitely been my saving grace and finally figuring out what to do and what I wanted to do. I guess it’s like telling a 16 year old kid that they have to start figuring out what they want to do with the rest of their lives when they haven’t a clue exactly what’s out there ya know!

The first header I created of course once again having no clue what I was doing. The second one I had created on Fiverr and I liked that one just fine. The third one I was told about a contest where if I got in before he shut off the 10 free headers he was making I’d get one and this is what he did. I love that header too. When Mark said he would create a feature opt-in box for me he decided it would be a cool idea to put it in my header so it had to be changed even though I was very happy with my current one at that time. But this one converts the best so I’m not complaining at all.

I love those animated videos so I have really been wanting to create one. I had been introduce to PowToons and I didn’t know if it was something I would use on a regular basis to warrant spending the money so I just played around with it to see what I thought. It’s a really cool little program actually Glenn and I think I didn’t do too shabby on the video. Fun right!

Thank you again for the well wishes and for stopping by. I know you’re a pretty busy guy too and I always appreciate the recommendations. You know me, eager to help! 😉

Have a fabulous day Glenn!

Wow Adrienne – 5 years! Congratulations. There are NOT a lot of bloggers that have blogged at same place for that many years. Many quit in the first year or if they last more years do change their blogs and sites often. That’s a real sign of consistency.
Here’s to another 5 years Adrienne!
Best of luck and success with the new product coming later this year….I’m sure it will be a huge success if anything like your blog.
I’ve certainly learned a lot reading your blog weekly too!

I’ll toast to that girl, another 5 years..

I sure hope so and thank you. I’m excited, nervous and scared but I guess that’s to be expected.

Glad you’ve learned some things while over here because I know I’ve learned some things at your place. That’s what I love about blogging, the things I’ve learned from others and the relationships I’ve made along the way. It’s like we’re one big happy family. 😉

I am so honored to have met you too and had a chance to chat with you. I so admire you as a person and what you’re achieving online. I appreciate your ongoing support and I agree with you that it’s the connections that have been the most rewarding for me as well.

Congratulations Adrienne!

This is one HUGE milestone. I loved your story of how you started and went though changes in blogging. Well, girl we all know you are the “Blogging Superstar” because you have always been there to help people. And that my friend is the key to success!

I know you well enough to say that you are the most giving person I’ve ever met. Hey, that’s why we became friends!

You have ALWAYS lead by example and I know your followers love you for that. But that’s not all….You are ethical and a professional leader in your field. This is why you earned the respect of others.

I cannot wait for your product to come out! I know how difficult it is on that journey. But I also know it will be a product that people NEED! Will celebrate that one too!

Looking forward to seeing you tonight.

Hey Donna, thanks!

I do feel like this is a biggie for me, a huge milestone in the blogging world. To see where I started with this blog and where it is now, all I can say is just wow. How everything just eventually started falling into place for me and all the things that have happened along the way, both good and bad. Not sure about a superstar but I’m happy to share what I’ve learned that works but I’m honored to have met you too because you’re the same way. I love that about you.

Oh, that’s so kind of you to say Donna, I’m truly touched. ♥

I do believe that honesty is the best policy and when we show our flaws people can relate to us more. We’re just like everyone else so that just proves that if I can do this then so can others. I know that the people I’ve met along this journey are also very ethical as well.

I’m excited and nervous but I’m getting there. It’s just been a process in the works but just glad when that phase will be behind me too.

Thank you Donna for your comment and kind words. Looking forward to chatting with you too. See you tonight!

WOOHOO! 5 years is a great achievement and i’m very happy for your success. It couldn’t happen for a nicer person :)

I love the video. Didn’t you find it to be a little empowering that you could make that yourself? I keep learning more and more about making these animated videos, but I am still nowhere near the level of the pros. Having software like PowToon is nice because you can tell your story in a fun and entertaining way. I hope to see more of these from you.

Best wishes for another 5 years of success, and beyond.

Why thank you Adam, I so appreciate that. It’s been a long ride but one I’m enjoying very much.

You liked the video? It was fun to make although limited of course but I just wanted something simple, cute and to the point. I love figuring things out so yes, it was empowering. I really love the software that lets you write out what you want to say, I’ve seen a lot and I love the ones you create too. I might do a few more but I’m nowhere near as good as you even though you “think” you’re not that great yet. I beg to differ my friend. 😉

Thank you so much Adam for your comment and kind words. Here’s to another great 5 more years.

25 Carol Amato June 19, 2014 at 10:16 AM

Hi Adrienne,

Congratulations on your Fifth Year Anniversary!! WOW – that’s an awesome accomplishment! You’ve done so much with the time you’ve had online, and I want to be like you when I grow up! 😉

Love how your headers have evolved over time and your mission statement has matured and gotten more narrow, really great.

I also have someone famous with my name, there’s someone named Carol Amato that is a famous author (children’s books on Amazon and all over eBay) and a renown professor at a leading university in the country. So, ranking for my name is a bit of a challenge, although I usually have at least 7 spots on the first page of Google for my name, for which I’m thankful.

I’m greatly interested in your upcoming product, and will be the first customer! :)

I’m anxious to glean from the wisdom of someone with the same philosophy, and that is to treat others the way you want to be treated. Give first, and don’t worry about getting back.

I’ve had this mindset from the beginning, after a brief but uncomfortable stint in more aggressive affiliate marketing, however, and now find myself in a nice rhythm of focusing on what’s best for others.

I will gladly share your anniversary post – love to spread the word about someone honestly trying to help people.

Have a blessed day.

Hey Carol,

Thank you so much and it’s been quite the journey to get to this place. It’s been fun learning though and connecting with others. That’s too funny, you want to me like me when I grow up! LOL!!! I was kind of thinking the same thing about you! 😉

I look back and kind of laugh at my headers but at the time they were either all I knew how to do or was satisfied because of where I was at the time. It’s been quite the journey I will say.

Ah, you have some people out there with your same name too! Like you though, I’m usually the one ranking on the first page above them. They have social media sites but I haven’t found any websites or blogs for them yet which is a good thing. They haven’t wanted to purchase that domain either obviously.

Oh, thank you and I appreciate that. I’m excited, nervous and scared. I always want to put out the best information I can to help as many people but I also don’t see myself like others see me so I’m still really nervous about this. But what I’ve learned about this journey so far is that by me just sharing what I’ve learned and what I’ve done that it’s really helping a lot of people and that’s why I continue to do what I do.

Gosh, we do sound like we’ve been on the same journey. I will tell you that I haven’t progressed at the pace that I probably should have only because I was very uncomfortable doing some of what I was being taught. You know, it’s that gut instinct that we women tend to pay more attention to that says, nah, I don’t really feel comfortable doing that. I could tell the stories of the things I’ve been taught and then the people who were teaching me got hit hard by Google. Yep, some accounts were even deleted so I was SO glad I listened to my gut.

Thank you so much for sharing my post and I do hope that it can help anyone else out there who may still have doubts or questions about should they stick with it or bail. I say if you love what you’re doing yet not getting the results we’ll figure this thing out together. We all love those aha moments don’t we? 😉

Thanks Carol and I’ll talk to you later. Really looking forward to it.

Hi Adrienne,

Many congratulations on your blog anniversary. I do hope you enjoy your day.

I enjoyed reading through your post and seeing all the changes you’ve made to your blog over the years. I do wish I’d thought of taking screen shots of mine before I changed it to the current design. Always good to look back to see how we have progressed.

I’m still discovering things through you that I never knew existed like WayBack Machine and PowToon. I tried WayBack Machine just now but it was taking way too long. I’ll give it another try later. PowToon looks like fun. I’ll definitely give that a try.

Have a great weekend when you get there.

Hi Sandy,

Thank you so much and my day is responding to comments so far but I’m enjoying myself. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years already. Wow!

Glad you enjoyed my post but do try the WayBack Machine site and you should be able to see some of how your site looked over the years. Just let it run in the background, it’s probably just pulling all the information which is talking a little while. Some of the images I pulled up the sidebar was missing or some of the framework but you’ll get the idea, just keep looking. It’s cool to look back and get a good laugh. I wish I had taken a screen shot of my old website though since it’s not showing up hardly at all. Bummer, I thought it was kind of cool.

Oh, PowToons is a fun program and they have the free and paid versions of course. Not sure if I will make that many videos with it to warrant the cost but I do like to play with it. Do go check it out.

Thank you Sandy and you have a great weekend too. I so appreciate your comment and support!

I was always told to go for the dot com but since it was taken I just went with the next best thing. Actually now I’m kind of glad that I did because I’m able to prove that a dot net ain’t so bad. So when people say my domain they always of course include the dot net and I rarely have someone say they couldn’t find me. It helps having my face all over the place too ya know!

Hi Balroop,

Thank you, I’m pretty happy with what I’ve accomplished up to this point.

I so appreciate your kind comment Balroop, thank you so much. You are one of the reasons I continue to do what I do. Your words on encouragement for what I’ve been able to help people with is why I do what I do. I appreciate that, thank you so much.

Time to go do some more celebrating. You enjoy the rest of your day and week.

I wish I could look into a crystal ball and see where you’ll be in another 5 years’ time.

Though one thing’s for sure, it really looks like you’re going places.

Hi Kevin,

In one way I would too but the other one I wouldn’t. Like if I looked at my life five years ago and saw where I was I think I’d be really confused because at that time I just knew what I would be doing. Surprise!

I sure hope so Kevin, that’s the plan! 😉

Thank you so much and I appreciate your continued support.

big congrats Adrienne! Five years is a fabulous milestone. So many people people never get that far. And a lot of popular bloggers leave behind their blogs after 3 years to go on to the next after discovering that they’ve gone through some sort of change in direction. It’s so good to see you finding such focus.

I’m so glad you’ve arrived at this milestone because you’re a mentor as well as a guide through the mire. I was introduced to your blog by Sue Neal of and I owe her a big thanks.

Here’s to your next Fab Five. Cheers!

Hey Tom,

Thank you, pretty cool right!

I know that for me as well I’ve changed directions three times since starting this blog so I know from experience that we may not end up doing what we first set out to do. That’s why I’m not a real big planner. I’ve heard so many people say that once I came online and check such and such out then everything changed. You meet people who may want to partner with you and the next thing you know you’re doing something entirely different. I’m just glad I kept blogging here on this domain instead of bailing and starting all over once again.

Thank you for those kind words and boy was I so sad to see Sue leave blogging. I totally understand why but still, I did love what she shared. She doesn’t know this but I copied a couple of her posts because I wanted to be able to revert back to what she taught us. 😉

Thanks Tom for your continued support and I’m still rooting for you my friend!

Happy birthday and anniversary, Adrienne. I’m dedicating my pinned spot @GrowMap to you today. Yours is the strongest CommentLuv community I know of that is getting stronger over time. So many of us focused on other things and lost the vibrant discussions in the comments we once have. Looks like I need to read your advice and apply it myself!

I miss all the regulars who are still hanging out on your blog. Going out to visit them all has been on my to-do list for ages, but other commitments keep getting in the way. Any quick tips on how you make that a priority and still keep the bills paid? Maybe that is a discussion for another day…today is the day to celebrate all you’ve accomplished! Congratulations and may you have many more years making a difference for others.

I have learnt from your relationship mails, about how to build a string relationship and mine has really changed, I remembered the day I mailed you about my blog and you really gave me positive and inspiring reply and I’m still on the train to success.

As for the products, I am personally waiting eagerly for the product you are about to unlease because I know it’s gonna be great. Don’t worry, the next five years holds greater success.

I continue to always see the stats for how many blogs are online but I have to agree with you. I would think that most of them are abandoned but just not taken down quite yet. People can put them up rather easily but then they get discouraged and soon just quit altogether. It’s really a shame but that’s how it goes unfortunately.

I know that as things get busy that our time is directed elsewhere but I do hope that I’ll always be blogging and sharing but I definitely can’t say right now. I don’t know what the heck I’ll be doing 5 years from now but I hope we’re all comparing notes still. Wouldn’t that be cool!

Thank you so much Ilka and I’ve definitely been celebrating today!

Happy Anniversary to your blog, Adrienne!

5 years is a long time for a blog considering how blogs come and go. There’s no doubt that you must have done something right, because your blog is doing great.

I know you’re not a big planner, but you know what they say right? Planning is a good thing to do, because it really leads you on the target. When I started my blogs I didn’t have a plan for them, and that really didn’t serve me. Because of it I’m still climbing the stiff hill :)

I love that video, I want to try this out!

Hi Sylviane,

Thank you so much and I’m so excited to be celebrating this milestone.

Well let’s just say I’m glad I didn’t bail within the first two years when it really wasn’t going where I had hoped. I couldn’t have just scratched it and started over but I stuck with it thank goodness.

The reason I don’t really like to plan is because I can “say” what I would like to be doing in two years but then something will come along and steer me in the other direction so then it’s like I’m never staying on track so I like for things to happen as they may. I’m not sure what I would like to be doing by next year. Things are always cropping up ya know!

Oh thanks, it was fun to make so you ought to give it a try.

Thank you so much and you hope we’re both still in this together. 😉

89 Joanne T Ferguson

G’day and Happy 5th Blog Anniversary Adrienne, congrats and many more!

I was intrigued on trying out a new program Powtoon, so thank you for satisfying my curiosity today and it was very user friendly!

Much advance congrats on your future to be released project and hope it is everything that you want it to be!

As the Eternal Optimist, I know and value planning ahead with short term, medium term and long term goals as without them, we are all like a drifting boat out to sea and yes, while I do subscribe to the philosophy “we bring into our lives what we desire,” but without knowing which direction we want to go and more importantly why, our achievements are not fully optimized at best.

Life serves many curve balls and as such, it is always important to renew and revise one’s goals to see what else or who else we bring into our lives to enhance one’s journey!

We may not always get what we ask for or desire, but I believe we do get what we need to grow and live in the state of happiness each and every day!

Look forward to what the next chapter of your blogging life brings!

Cheers! Joanne

Congrats again and enjoy!

June 20, 2014 at 8:56 AM

Thank you Joanne and I do hope that I have many more good years ahead of me. I really am enjoying where I am today so I definitely look forward to seeing where I’ll be in another 5 years.

Oh good, I was able to help you see what this little program can do. It was actually fun putting it together and it really didn’t take me that long to figure it out. Of course this is their free version.

Thank you about the product and I’m keeping my fingers crossed too. Although this actually isn’t my first product, it’s the first one to be released with such a wonderful following that I expect it to do so much better than the ones in the past when I had no clue what I was doing. LOL!!!

Because life always continues to throw me curve balls, I quit planning ahead. I’ve been thrown curve balls darn near my entire life so all that planning I would do ended up all in vein. So now, like this very moment, I know where I would like to see myself a year from now and at this moment I’m planning on heading in that particular direction. But I am open to things changing that direction for whatever reason so I don’t limit myself to just focusing on reaching that particular destination or I might miss some awesome opportunities along the way. Don’t worry, I will always remain positive. 😉

Thank you Joanne for sharing that and I’m glad you’re so optimistic. I am as well and as you know, I’m one darn positive person!

You have a beautiful day and weekend. Thank you again for the well wishes and I’m so pleased I had the opportunity to meet you as well.

Five times congratulations to you becoz I just joined your circle a few months ago and could not have congrats you previous four times.
Your glaring smile is enough to tell me how caring and loving you are. It’s been three months since I am regular visitor of your blog. In the beginning I was simply expecting very caring admonishment on my comments which were a bunch of beating about the bush. But how lovingly you replied each of my comments made me a big fan of yours and I learnt a lot from your posts and mainly from your replies to all here.
Also by visiting here I got so many other great friends that is why it is rightly said a man is know by the company he keeps. If you are in a good company you will have good friends and vice versa.
Thanks a lot Adrienne for caring and loving so much to us and we all pray for more success, happiness and joy in your life. Do keep smiling :-)

Hi Mi Muba,

Thank you so much and trust me, the first few years were not very good for this blog. It didn’t start picking up steam until around 2011 so although I’ve been blogging here for 5 years I feel like it hasn’t really been that long.

Thank you for sharing that with me because that’s very important to know. I always hope that my big old smile makes people feel comfortable here but I know that alone won’t keep them coming back. We have to share the content that they enjoy and will benefit them but at the same time I want you to feel like this is a place you can come and ask questions if you need any assistance too. I want everyone to feel like they are being heard because that’s how the connections start to form as you very well know.

I’m so glad you’ve met more awesome people through visiting my blog. I do have a fabulous community here and I love for my readers to connect with one another. Some people would tell me I’m nuts for wanting that but I openly love that you guys are connecting and learning from each other too. I don’t claim to know it all so I hope you’ll meet more people who can help you in different areas.

Thank you so much Mi Muba for sharing that and you have a wonderful weekend. Here’s to many more years of blogging ahead of us both.

Wow Adrienne,

What an accomplishment! I wish I could say the same. I know it’s been a long hard struggle and many new bloggers go through similar struggles as you have told us you experienced. But look how far you’ve come and it’s great to be able to say you’ve made it! At least, that’s what I think.

Congratulations and I hope you were drinking champagne last night.

Big congrats to you! I hope to be just like you when I grow up! LOL!
God bless and here’s to another successful 5 years!

Hey Barbara,

Thank you and I appreciate you helping me celebrate last night. It’s wasn’t exactly champagne but pretty close to it and it was very good too! 😉

But I appreciate your help and support along the way and I’m so glad we met and have been going through this together these last few years. I’ve definitely come a very long way from where I first started and I see a bright future ahead for sure.

Thank you and I have a feeling we’re both going to see some amazing changes this year still. 😉

You have a great weekend and thanks again.

Hi Adrienne

Congratulations even though I have said it verbally I am now here to say it. A little late I know.

As Kumar said you have made a difference to the blogging online world and most of us have learned heaps from you. I tell people to follow your blog all the time as they will learn.

I know your product will be awesome and will help even more people.

I did not realize until recently that you had started out with a static website. You are so much more a blogger and relationship person.

Well done and I wonder what the next 5 years will bring for you. Some great things I am sure.

Have a wonderful weekend Adrienne.

Why thank you for saying that and it really does mean a lot to me that people see me in that way. I am SO glad that what I’ve been able to learn and apply that I’ve been able to help others learn through this as well.

I sure hope so, my product is definitely going to be different.

Yep, I was just doing what I was taught as I moved along trying to figure things out. I wish I had a better picture to show you guys what my static site looked like but it didn’t all show up in the WayBack Machine for some reason. Oh well, it was okay but the blog is much better.

I’m curious but I have a feeling that I will not be where I am right now. I mean I hope I’m still blogging but I think my business will be going in a different direction. At least I’m hoping so but I guess time will tell right!

Thank you Sue and you have a wonderful weekend as well. You’re halfway through yours already. 😉

I’d probably still be turning my wheels now trying to figure out how to build relationships through blogging and the behind the scenes technical issues I’ve had in the past.

I look forward to seeing what your product will be. I’m sure all of us in the blogosphere will find it beneficial, since you have been of great help to all of us. It’s not everyday that we meet people like yourself!

Hey Sherman,

Thank you Sherman and awwwwwwwww. It’s comments like that which really help me know that I’m here for the right reasons and that I’m really helping others so thank you for that.

I sure hope that everyone will like what I have to put out product wise. It’s going to be a little different but I think doing it this way can help others understand. I mean when they look at a huge influencer I think at times they are too intimidated because they haven’t been taught the process they’ve actually gone through to get to where they are. I’m not as big as a lot of those giants but I can easily head that way so I think I have a lot to teach others and I’m really hoping this product will be the way. 😉

You are very welcome and thank you so much for sharing that with me Sherman, I so appreciate you!

Hi Adrienne.

I’m SO excited to see you release your first product and with the awesome community you’ve built here I just know it’s going to be a HUGE success.

I’ll definitely be checking it out because I understand the importance of a strong community!

I have a lot of respect for you for many different reasons, but the #1 reason is how you’ve stayed on track with this site all these years. Never have I seen you niche hopping, getting distracted or missing blog updates…

And THAT takes discipline, dedication and determination. :)

Wishing you all the best in everything you do!

118 Adrienne Smith
June 22, 2014 at 11:09 AM

Hey Kerry,

Thank you and although officially this isn’t my first product, it is with this particular community because they didn’t know me back then. But I have to say that this one I’m the most nervous about because I don’t want to let anyone down you know. I do believe though that mine will be different because it is my own experience and everything I’ve done to keep this community in tact throughout these years.

I appreciate the kind words Kerry and I think I did all that niche opportunity in the background. I also changed directions several times with this blog but I did refuse to give this one up and I just knew that I would eventually figure things out which I did.

Thank you and for coming back around. I really appreciate the support and you my friend. 😉

You have an awesome rest of your weekend and thanks again.

Thank you so much and I worked on it a lot. I actually watched more of your videos on Optimize Press yesterday but haven’t gotten through them all. I asked a few friends what program they were using and they too were using that one so I will be getting it. I ran out of time yesterday and I won’t have time later today either. Hi Adrienne; congratulations on making it five years. Also, thanks for being the loving caring helpful person you are. thought I would help you celebrate by announcing my new blog. I’m a little late getting to the party because of a dental emergency. On thursday morning I woke up with a horrible tooth ache that resulted in having two wisdom teeth pulled eating only soft food and not feeling like working. thank goodness I had some pain meds left from my gastric surgery. You are right about the value of building relationships. I’ve had several of my blogging friends already stop in to comment on the new blog and encourage me to keep writing. So put on the funny hat, decorate the house, play the loud music, and dance your but off. You earned it, max

I’m so sorry about your tooth, those emergencies are never fun at all. Glad you’re on the mend though and I’ll have to check out your new blog. So you decided to take the plunge, well good for you.

Hi adrienne; glad we met. I’m happy to be able to inspire someone I consider a leader in our field. and i am feeling better. no longer having to take pain meds. funny how i didn’t need them after surgery but did for a toothache. :) and i took the plunge sort of. I went the easier way. I went with blogger so no filing for domain name yet, and starting it was easier than it would be to create a second word press site and blog. I believe those will come eventually, but I took your advice and decided to put off worrying about that for now. for now, I’m going to concentrate on the writing and of course keeping the midway website and blog going. enjoy your day. I’m sure we will talk tomorrow. take care my friend. xoxo max

Congratulations Adrienne, Five years is quite a milestone. I can’t believe how fast time flies lately. The older I get the faster time moves. I feel like I’ve been pulling the brake just to keep up but it doesn’t slow for a second.

That’s a decent price for the .com version of your name but, like you said, probably not necessary. Everyone knows so you’d probably just redirect the .com anyway. I guess the main reason to have it would be to keep others from out-ranking your brand (your name) in search. You have a five year jump on anyone that trys. 😉

135 Adrienne Smith
June 23, 2014 at 8:51 AM

Hey Brian,

Thank you… I feel the same way and I can’t believe that it’s already another Monday and summer is officially here. Time just keeps moving faster and faster with each new day to me so another 5 years will be behind me before I know it. It’s hard to keep up with at times.

The price is decent now but it sure wasn’t when I started. I agree, everyone says to buy up all your domains so that this won’t be an issue down the road and although I can see the reasoning with that, when money isn’t flowing freely and you have to watch your pennies, it’s just not realistic. I wouldn’t use the dot com anyway, you’re right. Maybe I eventually will get it but then again, maybe I won’t. 😉

Thanks though for your comment and hope you’re doing good these days. Appreciate the visit and the well wishes.

Hi Adrienne,

Great recap of the path you took to where you are today. I honestly can’t remember WHERE I found your site, but I’m sure glad that I did. Until recently, your site was the first thing I would check every Monday and Thursday for new blog posts … that was even before I logged into my own blog … but I’ve been busy lately working on something so I haven’t had the time to check out the posts the same day … hence the comment 5 days after this post was published.

Even if that .com became available, I would still prefer the .net because I guess I’m so use to it by now. BTW, that person should have just let that domain go when they saw no one wanted it at $350.

Congrats on your first 5 years and looking forward to an additional 5+ years.

Take care friend,

Since I wrote about my journey last year I didn’t want to sound like a broken record so I thought it would be fun to share my different looks and just have a little fun with it. I’m so touched Andrew that you usually check out my post before you even log into your own blog! OMG, that’s saying SO much and I’m SO flattered. Truly, thank you for sharing that. Now I know we all get busy and I have no doubt that what you’re working on it top notch my friend and I hope it’s all going well for you.

If I did purchase the dot com I would just forward it to the dot net site anyway. I mean since she didn’t want anyone to have it after she let her blog go back in 2007, she’s kept it all these years trying to get something from it but it’s pretty obvious that no one wants it that bad. Maybe now she’s just trying to get her money back and make a little profit. Well I won’t be helping her right now so good luck with that right!

Thank you so much Andrew and I’m eager to see where the next 5 years will take me. Whichever direction it is, I’m eager to see where it leads me.

Thank you for your comment no matter how late it is. You’re a really trooper and I appreciate your ongoing support. Have an awesome week.

Hi Adrienne,
I can’t believe I missed this momentous occasion. You deserve some kudos. 5 years is a long time and that is awesome. So, CONGRATULATIONS!!! You started the hard way not knowing any one.

It’s a lonely and frustrating road. No one should have to start a business that way. Unfortunately, it’s more the rule than the exception.

I want to apologize to you for being so late with my response. There has been a lot going on around here. The twins were here on your anniversary and I didn’t do much of anything in the way of work.

There was also some bad news I got from the eye Dr. but, I will talk to you about that later. In the meantime, I’m so sorry I missed your celebration. I hope you will forgive me. Thank you for being kind and understanding. You’re the bomb!

Love ya,

Hi Geri,

Yep, a week ago today as a matter of fact. 5 whole years on this domain I’ve been blogging and you’re right, I started out not knowing anyone and it was several years before I did.

My entire journey in the beginning was very lonely because people were more eager to help me if I paid them and at the time I just really had to watch my money.

Don’t apologize at all, I knew you had the family visiting and I wouldn’t have been online either. I hope you did have some fun with them.

Oh no, bad news with the eye doctor. Well I’ll wait to hear from you about that Geri so you know I’ll be around. I’ll put you on my prayer list and start that right now okay! I just appreciate the well wishes and know your thoughts are always with me. Thanks for that and you just take care of yourself okay!

I’ll talk to you soon and thank you so much. :-)

Hi Adrienne,

First of all, congratulations on the 5th anniversary of your blog. It was wonderful!
I can say, I have not been too long engaged in your blog, but your blog gives a lot of useful things for me. I can learn, learn new things and many more. Thanks for all of it, Adrienne. 😀

I hope you can reach your 6th anniversary smoothly, or even reach its 10th anniversary. :)

Hi Nanda,

Thank you for the well wishes and I’m thrilled to still be here. Not sure what the future holds but I love blogging and hope that I have many more years here at least. I guess time will tell right!

Glad you’ve been learning a few things from me and I hope to continue seeing your face around here for awhile as well.

You have a great weekend and thanks again.

Hi Adrienne, congratulations. So from 2003 onwards, then leaving “corporate” America and probably just in time not to buried under the real estate fallout from the crisis. There’s a lot of people who should have done the same but instead procrastinated. As Brian Tracy always says: “It may take a few years – but the time is passing anyway”. As for your .com domain: you should really check if it still has (good) backlinks that point to it. While it is always a gamble, at $188 it might well be that you could use this .com, redirect it via 301 to your .net and gain from it to the tune of $188 more advertising per year in monetization. I can’t go into all the details here, but I would not be surprised if the investment amortized itself within one or two years.

Hi Dermot,

Thank you, I appreciate that.

The domain came on the scene in 2003 but I didn’t purchase it until 2008. I left corporate America in 2007 but I was in commercial real estate and they weren’t hurting at all. I’m sure after the economy took a nose dive they may have had some issues but they had investors that were holding onto commercial property just waiting for the right time to sell anyway so that particular company was not hurting. I just didn’t want to be there anymore.

The dot com has crappy backlinks because it was just a free blog that she didn’t do much with. I think it was just a fun one at that time so trust me, I wouldn’t purchase it because of that. Right now I have no intention of buying it because I would redirect it anyway. I don’t want paid advertisers though so that’s not anything I’m interested in either.

Appreciate your thoughts on this though and your comment. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Priyangshu,

It’s definitely been an interesting journey, you are right about that.

I hope that I will continue to share content that will help and benefit my readers. The day that stops happening is the day I’ll quit blogging.

I appreciate the well wishes and I thank you for your comment.

Hi Adrienne. I wanted to stop by and add my congratulations to those already here. What an example of stick-to-it-iv-ness, as we used to say! I wish you many, many more years at and am looking forward to the coming year.

All the best,

Hello, Adrienne. It’s been a while since I last visited. Too long.

Just stopping by to say hi and was glad to see that you’re now celebrating five years. Congratulations! I’m so proud of you and your insight and steadfastness during that time. How exciting!

Great seeing the screenshots of the different looks for your site. Like your new header with the email subscription for easy access. Nice idea.

It was interesting reading about the .com option. I’m so used to typing .net when I look you up.

Keep up the great work, my friend.

Take care,

Hey Allyson,

Well, welcome back. Hope you’re doing okay and it’s always a pleasure to have you. I do hope all is well with you these days. What have you been doing?

Yep, I’ve made it an entire five years on this blog can you believe it? I can’t myself because it really does seem like yesterday that I was making all those changes.

You can tell by the first few headers that I had done them just from how unprofessional they look. Yep, I’m no graphics person but I eventually got smart. I really do love my last one as well. Mark was very smart to suggest putting the opt-in box in the header itself. Yep, I love this one the most.

I think that’s just it. Most people are so use to me being the dot net that I don’t think I wouldn’t actually want the dot com now. Let someone else have the opportunity to use it. She should have just let it go years ago.

Thank you so much for your visit and as always, good to see you again. You take care and don’t be a stranger.

Thanks, Adrienne. Just been busy working. I am really proud of you and how you’ve stuck in there.

Yes, I agree. The .com seller should have just let it go after all those years.

It’s always a pleasure visiting with you.

Good busy I hope and thank you for saying that Allyson, it means a lot. I hope to carry on for at least another five years if not more. 😉
