How To Easily Download YouTube Videos

by Adrienne Smith on March 29, 2012

How To Easily Download YouTube VideosThis post is somewhat of a follow up to one I wrote last November showing you how to convert YouTube videos to different formats.  The reason I’m sharing this with you today is because last February I wrote a post about a cool service I had been introduced to call Tynt.

What’s so cool about Tynt is that it will actually show you the keywords people are using to find your content.  There are plenty of tools that will do that right!  What Tynt will do though is also share with you which keywords people obviously still want more information on so they’re leaving your site to go in search of that.

I installed this service back in November but didn’t write about it until February because I wanted to test it.  The number one keyword that has remained at the top of that list for almost the majority of that time is what I want to share with you today.

So sit back and let me show you not only how cool Tynt is but how I’ve been able to take what my readers are telling me they want more information on and followed it up in this post.

Ultimate YouTube Downloader for Chrome

Pretty Cool Huh!

So have you been using Tynt and can you see the power behind this one service?  Now you know why I shot this particular video as my last one for Barry Well’s video challenge.  Yep that’s right, it ends today so I was able to get one more in before he closed the doors.

Just in case you missed my other posts that I had written this will be an added bonus. I have really used this YouTube download extension quite a bit.

I’ve been able to listen to Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Bryan Tracey, you name it as I take my afternoon walks now.  If you use Google Chrome you’re going to love this and I’m sure FireFox has something compatible.

The End Of The Challenge

Thank you all for watching all of my videos during Barry’s challenge.  Don’t worry, there will be plenty more to come and I intend to mix it up a bit.

Please be sure and leave me your comments, they are always welcomed.  Love to know if you are using either of these or maybe you’re pretty new to my place and these will be a pleasant surprise.

See you all soon in the comment section and don’t forget to share this with your friends!  Hope you won’t keep it a secret..

Hi Adrienne, I do this sometimes, it’s fun to be able to keep YouTube videos on my devices. I love to make ringtones out of the audio too.

I’m glad you’re making such good use of your iPod Touch, Adrienne! What a great way to enjoy your walks even more. :-)

Glad to hear that Carolyn and you are right. I love listening to some of them when I’m out and about. Now the ringtone is a smart idea. Leave it to you to think of that. :-)

I love my iPod Touch, thanks to you. It’s really come in handy for so many things and being able to walk or go something and have things to listen to like something other then just music is great for me. Right up my alley.

Always learn something from your blog Adrienne and despite loving your review about Tynt in February I failed on the bit about having to post the code – my blog theme is particularly hard to do this on – another good reason to upgrade my theme as soon as possible I think, but based on this, I may have another go.

Love the fact that you can see what keywords people are leaving your site for! Great little tool and plugins that you share here, thanks.

Ah thanks Nicky and I hesitated on doing this one because I had just written about Tynt last month. But, every time my reports come in there are those keywords people are still searching for. So why not help them out right! I do love that it shows us what people still want to know about that we obviously aren’t satisfying what they need. Maybe it is time to upgrade your theme. :-)

Thanks for the comment and enjoy your day!

Hi Adrienne, my wife is a school teacher and here in Canada we have remembrance day, well I had to learn how to do this a year or so back so she could share the video with the children. Way to go in the video challenge this is a job well done it seems. Maybe next time you can show us this happy dance of yours LOL.

Hey Brian,

I bet your wife appreciated you showing her how to share that video Brian. I know that kids love to watch videos so I’m sure that was a treat.

By the way, my post on Monday I shot a video and I did do my happy dance in that video. Oh yeah!!! I have a feeling I’ll be adding it though down the road more per a few people’s requests! :-)

Thanks Brian for your comment.

Hi Adrienne,

WOW that’s a lot of your content being copied over the last few weeks, thank heavens you’re on top of it :) I missed that post somehow so I’ve opened another tab and will go through it shortly.

I hope you didn’t bash your leg on the coffee table whilst doing your happy dance :)

I’ve also installed the Chrome extension as that looks really handy. Like you I had a sudden dislike of Firefox, for some strange reason it started placing a large box in my WP Admin panel when I went to edit a page or post, covering the top of the page. Which made it hard to see the content never mind edit it and with adding to the challenge page on a daily basis it didn’t take long until I said enough is enough and switched to Chrome :)

Thanks for the shout out during your video Adrienne, I really appreciate that :)

The challenge has been fantastic and we’ve had some really great videos submitted to it with tutorials that we can all make good use of. I’m really pleased that we have encouraged a few people to start creating videos for the first time and would you believe that one of them has submitted his 6th video today….. How cool is that 😎

Thank you for taking part and showing us all some really cool tips and techniques that you use, I know they’re helping lots of people and will do for a long time to come yet :)

I’ll add this post to the challenge page and see you on the tynt post shortly :)

Thanks again for everything Adrienne, you really are a star 😎

Respect and Regards,

Hi Barry,

Oh, my first post on this I’ve had even more content copied so at least you are aware although you don’t know who is doing it. That other posts explains it more though.

Luckily for me, there is no coffee table in site when I do my happy dance. Oh yeah, I have plenty of room. :-)

I’m not sure what it is about FireFox. Back when I did my rant I attracted someone from FireFox and they said I could have too many plug-ins loaded but I told them that’s not the case because I only used a few. They had no other explanation but to upgrade which I already had. Like you, I had enough and just went to Chrome.

That is really cool Barry and these beginners will look back and think thank goodness I started. That was really pretty cool and what they shared helped people. That in itself will keep them creating more. I love that he’s now made his sixth one. And here I was so proud I had done five.

Thank you Barry and whenever you get ready to have another one, you know where to find me! 😉 I’ve enjoyed participating and good luck to the winner. They will be very deserving.

Hi Adrienne ! Great video with full of new info flowing all the way, i just loved it. I was unaware about the youtube downloader for chrome, being a chrome browser user :-P. But now i’ll head for it and download it straight away to enjoy the most of the videos to be downloaded from youtube. Thanx for this amazing info. :)

Hi Sunil,

Thank you, happy to hear that. You’re probably going to love the Chrome extension. It just makes it so easy to download videos.

Glad you found it helpful Sunil and always appreciate your comment.

Hi Adrienne
Another great video with lots of help for your readers! I use Chrome so I am going to install it today so I can keep track of some YouTube videos thanks :)
I am also intrigued by Tynt so I am going to head over to the site and see what it’s all about, sounds good from what you say, I am really getting into stats and finding out who is visiting my blog and what they are doing lol

Have a great day and enjoy your walk with your ipod!

March 29, 2012 at 9:24 AM

Hi Pauline,

Oh good, you use Chrome so you’ll love this one. I have been using the heck out of it Pauline.

Be sure and read my other post if you need more information but I really think it’s a cool site. They now have a plug-in instead of putting code on your blog but to me the code is just as easy and it will cut down on having too many plug-ins. It’s really great for knowing what your readers are searching for so you can write future posts on those topics.

Thank you Pauline and you have great day as well. I’m loving my iPod…

Thanks Adrienne,!
I have liked Tynt, i could download it easily from my wordpress add new plugin. Is already working, i tested it.
Also thanks for the information about converting. I use DVDvideosoft – i highly recommend.!-
I liked that tag you let us see in the youtube video saying download. Still not clear for me, but i will check again the info you provide.

Thanks for make it easy for me!

16 Adrienne Smith
March 29, 2012 at 10:58 AM

Hi Angel,

Happy to hear that you’ve already implemented Tynt on your blog. That’s great and I hope you find it helpful with the information it will be sharing.

I know there are a lot of different programs and services you can use for downloading videos now. I was surprised at how many there were when I started researching this last year. But it was obvious everyone continued to want more information about the Dr. Newton YouTube Downloader which is why I did this follow up.

With the Chrome extension it automatically adds the download feature right there on YouTube to make it easy to download any video into whatever format you want. Sounds like you already have something you enjoy using though.

My pleasure Angel and hope you’re doing well.

Hi Adrienne,

I really have to look at this Tynt more closely, but it’s also a time issue with me :)

Doesn’t Barry’s challenge made us create great videos, or what? I really enjoyed it. I am naturally lazy to make videos, and this really made me take actions. The is very good tips, Adrienne, and I have to sit on it this week end.

I also have to watch your video about Triberr again as I don’t really understand how it works yet :) Gosh, there so much to do!!! I still have to check a couple of Twitter tools that Barry told me about and I have to watch his videos about PowerPoint.

I tell you, internet marketers are so talented, and there is so much to learn from all of you guys, you are making my head spin :)

18 Adrienne Smith
March 29, 2012 at 11:02 AM

Hi Sylviane,

Just sounds like you’re a very busy lady… Hopefully you’ll find some time to research and watch all this great stuff that Barry and I have been sharing. I know he really had some awesome people get involved with his challenge and I agree with you. I learn so much from other bloggers which is why I’m so addicted to reading other blogs so much.

If you have any questions about Triberr, give me a shout. You know I’m here to help.

Thanks for stopping by and hope your head isn’t spinning too terribly bad! :-)

19 Peter March 29, 2012 at 11:08 AM

Hi Adrienne,

I’m still using Firefox, and I use Video DownloadHelper, you can find it at

You also get a nice download button next to the YouTube videos, so Firefox users might wanna check that out. It seems that Firefox got better in the last couple of months, they sorted some problems out. I still like it better because of all the great plugins.

I actually also use Chrome, it’s my browser for web applications – I somehow like to use a separate browser for that. So thanks, I will try the Chrome downloader.

20 Adrienne Smith
March 29, 2012 at 11:29 AM

Hi Peter,

Thanks for sharing that so if we still have faithful FireFox users then they’ll be happy to know there are alternatives as well.

I use two browsers too Peter and I still use FireFox but not as my main one and I only have one thing open in that. I don’t have any add ons either because I don’t use it as my main browser so maybe that’s why it’s done good lately. Who knows.

Appreciate your input so thanks for sharing that.

I don’t know Adrienne, I think you are starting to get into Carolyn’s sandbox here; you are getting pretty technical.

Sounds pretty cool; I do have a YouTube account, maybe it’s time to dust off the cobwebs, huh?

22 Adrienne Smith
March 29, 2012 at 3:38 PM

She’s more high tech gadgets stuff and I’m more online tech stuff. So either way, we are intertwining a bit I do agree. I still believe she’s the pro and way above me but you can tell I’m trying to play catch up.

Yeah, I remember your YouTube account and I was really looking forward to more videos from you. Either way, you can still download videos you enjoy watching or perhaps to an audio format to load up to listen to later. That’s what I love about this cool little extension.

Thanks Bill, great to see you… Hope you’re having a great week.

23 Jamella Biegel
March 29, 2012 at 5:22 PM

Hi Adrienne,

Another great post with useful information! I am definitely going to convert some YouTube videos from Jim Rohn and my other favorites to listen to on my iPod. I primarily use Firefox, but I have Chrome on my laptop as well. So I just need The Ultimate YouTube Downloaded, then covert some videos, and load my iPod. Then I will be all set to tune out my co-workers at work, while listening to positive, motivational speakers. :)

24 Adrienne Smith
March 29, 2012 at 5:49 PM

Hi Jamella,

That’s what I’ve been using it for a lot lately Jamella. Downloading speeches from all my favorite motivational speakers and listening to that instead of music when I’m in the car or nothing when I walk. I love that this extension gives us the ability.

Peter shared in his post a link to “Video DownloadHelper” which is a FireFox addon so you might want to try that one out on your PC. Save having to do it on your laptop.

Enjoy listening. :-)

Oh Adrienne, you are simply the best!

I was actually thinking of you the other day when I made one of my timeline covers following a tutorial on Youtube. I was thinking, what if the guy takes the tutorial down and I want to do something similar but can’t remember the steps? I couldn’t remember what the tool was called you had mentioned earlier either so I am sure glad for this post. I will be heading over to Youtube right now and download that tutorial.

Thanks ever so much!

26 Adrienne Smith
March 30, 2012 at 8:56 AM

Hey Ilka,

That’s happened to me so often too Ilka. I’ve saved it in my favorites to come back to when I’m ready to dive in and not only was the video taken down but the whole channel. I couldn’t find that video anywhere and it made me so mad I didn’t take action right then. That’s why I went in search of something and was so happy to find this little gem.

Glad it will come in handy for you as well. Have fun! :-)

Wonderful source of information Adrienne!

Although not yet on YouTube as yet, and even though I did read about Tynt in your earlier post, I never knew that it had so many other features like checking out the SEO and keywords etc. It sure seems worth checking out right away!

You are so right about so many videos simply vanishing, especially when you want to hear or view them the most. Had never heard about Dr. Newton YouTube Downloader earlier than now- it does sound interesting indeed!Going to check it out right away, though as you say the name is perhaps now changed to Ultimate YouTube Downloader for Chrome.

I also have chrome so this link would be helpful. But is this and Flvto one and the same things? And if we have this crome extensions, do we need to download Flvto as well, as both are converting the audio or video to audio only.

(I love your happy dance- ya- though not visible but easily felt!)

Wishing you all the very best for Barry’s challenege, and I know though it ends now there would be plenty of wonderful vidoes coming up on this blog. :)

This was indeed a wonderful video with things I really had no idea about. Thanks so much for sharing it with all of us.

28 Adrienne Smith
March 30, 2012 at 9:44 AM

Hi Harleena,

You don’t have to be doing videos on YouTube to enjoy this feature. You do enjoy watching videos don’t you? This is where this extension can come in very handy.

These are two different sites but I had mentioned both in my earlier post. The Flvto will only download a video to audio now where it use to do both. That’s just a service that you can use without any extension in your browser. The extension will download a video to any format which is why I really find it handy.

I might have to add me doing the happy dance at times right Harleena? For those who didn’t see my initial video, that’s got me to thinking.

Thank you so much for your continued support and I really appreciate that you enjoy what I share. I will definitely keep up the videos so there will be plenty more to come as the year progresses. Stay tuned! :-)

29 Harleena Singh
March 30, 2012 at 10:41 AM

Understood that Adrienne!

I was just saying that I know I am not yet into making videos on YouTube, but do enjoy audios and videos- and all that you have shared is something totally new to my ears. Yes, I did see your earlier post about it, but that time I don’t think there was much talks about it or I didn’t really go through the details.

I did download the chrome extensions and it’s working beautifully now- and this seems to be a good solution to download all that you want and keep it away for a later date.

Thanks so much :)

30 Adrienne Smith
March 30, 2012 at 10:48 AM

I wasn’t quite sure if you weren’t watching as many videos on YouTube just because you weren’t making them yet. But glad to hear you have it downloaded and it’s working beautifully. Yey!!! Enjoy okay Harleena! :-)

31 Harleena Singh
March 30, 2012 at 10:54 AM

Lack of time Adrienne :)

I rarely watch videos – except on weekends may be, though audio keep running while I work on other things. Nevertheless, this tool serves my purpose to record things and keep even when I am busy :)

Enjoy your weekend as well :)

32 Stacy
March 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM

Hi Adrienne,

Thanks for sharing this, I’m going to give it a try. I had tried one called ‘video2mp3’ which only converts the first 7-8 minutes of a video. I was hoping to convert some longer trainings so hopefully this will work to convert larger files.

Thanks also for sharing about Tynt last month. I’ve been getting some interesting results! I’m surprised at how often my content leaves my site! It’s about the same as yours.

33 Adrienne Smith
March 30, 2012 at 10:24 AM

Hi Stacy,

I had run into that same problem Stacy, only finding some that would either only take the first few minutes or the quality was horrible. This will convert any video on YouTube where the other program, Flvto will convert any video from any URL into an audio only. Hopefully one or the other will be sufficient for you.

Interesting numbers aren’t they! As long as our content doesn’t end up being copied on some other site, which so far mine hasn’t, then I’m happy it’s being shared. People are learning something from me and eager to either keep them in a note form or sharing it with their friends. At least I like to think that’s what is happening.

Thanks for sharing that Stacy and glad to know you did install Tynt.

I love digging into keywords because somehow they are always surprising. But it;s a great way to get an idea of what direction you should be heading. Good tips with the software! Now if only I could get myself on the video bandwagon I’d be off to the races…

35 Adrienne Smith
March 30, 2012 at 10:27 AM

Hey Carol,

Me too and I find this one very good for suggestions on future content. Mine have been kind of surprising really and even my own name continues to be in the outbound keyword list. What more do you want to know that you can’t find on my site? Scratching my head over that one. But maybe they are heading to YouTube to watch me on camera, who knows.

Oh yeah and speaking of camera, are you thinking about seriously starting videos Carol? You know you should, it’s inevitable.. Oh come on, you can do it! I have faith in you girl… :-)

36 Joe Lampo March 30, 2012 at 2:43 PM

Hey, Adrienne! Another great post here. I’m going to bookmark this one, too, for future use. I wanted to let you know that you can access my website, but it is not complete yet. I have a couple of pages on it, and my first blog post is finished but not yet published, as I have a couple of images to place on the post and a possible video downloaded from YouTube. I’m still tweaking it. Also, I have changed my email address to that of the Perhaps I will be able to post the first blog sometime later tonight, so checkback again when you can. I look forward to any comments you may wish to make. Stay well!

March 30, 2012 at 3:02 PM

Wow Joe congratulations. I’m so happy for you that you’ve at least got it live and are tweaking it as we speak. I just popped over there and I like the clean look. You probably knew I would say that right after you’ve been visiting mine for awhile now.

I will definitely stop back by this weekend and see what you’ve shared with us. Great job and I’m so happy for you to finally get out there now.

Great going Joe and thanks for letting me know! So I guess I’ll see you soon.

38 Joe Lampo March 30, 2012 at 2:48 PM

Hey Pea,

Great to see you again and glad you already have the YouTube downloader all sorted out. Tynt is really a very cool program so be sure and look into it. You may be pleasantly surprised at all the information it will provide for you. I sure was.

Hope all is well with you.

44 Colleen Kelly
April 1, 2012 at 11:17 PM

Hey Adrienne,

My first thought when I saw the title was “Oh good “! I love these tutorial videos!. The funny thing about some of them a lot of them aren’t as easy to understand as yours are. I think it was really smart to make “how to” videos. Because gosh knows good ones are not so easy to find!. Tynt, I have never used but I am going to look at it. YouTube, I have been using on my blog a bit. I did make my own YouTube page as well. For me, music get’s me motivated so much I am going to put up my most motivating songs I have on my IPOD. For me. Music is a KEY motivator. Oh, I did join Triberr, I am feeling it out. It’s a little confusing..Not your video, but Triberr.. lol Thanks for ALL the work Adrienne. Truly. Thank you!! :)

45 Adrienne Smith
April 2, 2012 at 8:16 AM

Hi Colleen,

I know what you mean, some of these tutorial videos are a little over my head too. It depends on who did them. The ones I don’t like are the ones that just walk you through what to do with no voice, no music no nothing. No direction, just a mouse moving around and we’re just suppose to assume this is the next step because they don’t zoom in and I really can’t see what they’re telling me to do. Confusing…

I did see that you have your own YouTube channel now and perhaps in the future you’ll shoot some of your own videos for us.

If you need help with Triberr let me know. They changed it AGAIN! Man oh man…

Hey, enjoy your week okay!

46 Jeffrey Morgan
April 3, 2012 at 10:19 AM

Hi Adrienne,
The TYNT is a pretty cool idea. As for copy and paste; I’m afraid that I for one do the Screenshot thing. I do copy and paste, but not that much.

TYNT would be great for my forums. Thanks for the info. That’s the problem with Information overload. You get overloaded with the coolest sites.

I read where you like “Tony Robbins”. Did you see the Oprah special? I think he is doing a new series on her “OWN” network.

Anyway he is giving away his new program (Ultimate Edge) for free. I’m not sure how it works as I have yet to make my way through his overloaded server. But if you go to “” you will see the offer.

Hope you are doing well. You’re with me all day long! God Bless!

47 Adrienne Smith
April 3, 2012 at 12:15 PM

Hey Jeffrey,

You may not use it but that doesn’t mean others aren’t. That’s the whole purpose. I bet you’ll get a lot of results from your forum..

I do love Tony Robbins and I saw his interview with Oprah. He’s on her Life Class but I have it taped. Haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, too much going on. Thanks for that tip and I’ll have to go check that out later and see what he’s giving away.

Thanks Jeffrey and hope you’re doing well too! I know you’ve been busy as I have as well. I appreciate that, you’re so sweet.

Tell Carolyn hey for me okay!

Hi Adrienne,
Great tips and advice once again. I always learn new things in your blog. I do take notes because the information is huge and when I write it down that helps me to remember and come back later.
I have read your post about Tynt but I haven’t tried it yet and I haven’t started doing some videos yet. But it is in my plan for the next weeks.
Thank you for the knowledge you share :)

Hi Lenia,

So happy to hear you always learn something when you visit my place. I love hearing that.

I can’t wait to see some of your videos and I have no doubt you’ll do a great job. You’ll become a pro in no time at all. That I don’t doubt.

You are most welcome and thank you for your comment.

Hi Robert,

Video is only getting more popular so hope you’ll venture into using more as the month progress.

I love this downloader too so check it out. It’s come in very handy for me.

Happy Easter Robert and I did get your message. Thank you SO much for sharing that with me.

52 Linda April 9, 2012 at 11:52 AM

Hi Adrienne,

Great job on all your videos and CONGRATULATIONS for winning Barry’s challenge :)

I’m not much of a Youtube person as far as just randomly watching things that I am not looking for for business or whatnot. Once in awhile I will look for a song I want to listen too but never really thought about downloading it. On my Chrome I have something that goes directly to an artist that I like to listen to when I am in the mood. But, this would come in handy if they happen to disappear.

Great tips here, Adrienne and good job for getting the #1 spot for that keyword :)

Keep up the good work!

53 Adrienne Smith
April 9, 2012 at 4:24 PM

Hey Linda,

Why thank you so much, I was so thrilled. We all did a really great job of not only creating the videos but promoting his challenge as well. I’ve met some wonderful people through this too so am looking forward to keeping up with what they’re doing.

That’s why I started searching for this really. I had some favorite videos that I loved to go back and listen to and then one day they were gone. Ticked me off so once I found this program, I learned that I could download the videos to my computer and then save them as audios too. That came in very handy since I got my iPod. Not that I want to load my computer up with various videos but I do have a few favorites I would hate to see disappear.

Hope you’re able to use it Linda and glad you enjoyed these tips. I was pretty impressed with that #1 position too. Yey!!! :-)

Thanks Linda and have a great week. Hope you enjoyed your Easter weekend. I sure did.

I think it is, it’s helped me quite a bit actually. You don’t have to use the plug-in either so that will save you there. It’s given me some good information for sure.

Ah, I love hearing that Larry. Thank you for saying that seriously. It helps me to keep moving forward and know I’m headed in the right direction.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you’re enjoying your week. See you soon.

Hello Adrienne, Thanks for sharing the program called Tynt. It’ll be awesome to find what keywords people are leaving your site for. Btw I didn’t knew about the video blogging challenge. I am also looking forward to participate in blogging and video challenges. Do let me know if there are any new ones coming up.

Hey Spencer,

Tynt has come in very handy for me. I enjoy seeing how people are searching for my site but what they are searching for in order to leave my site. That is a really awesome feature of this program.

Yeah, the video challenge was fun. I have no doubt Barry will do another one in the future. When he does, I’ll be sure to let you know. You’re already very good at creating videos so that will be really easy for you.

Thanks Spencer and enjoy your weekend.

Hey Adrienne,

I just added the Chrome extension and going to check out if it works for downloading YouTube videos.

Normally I would simply use the audio just like yourself but now that I’m working more with video it can come really useful to be able to download my videos from other locations.

Thanks for the great tip!

Hey Sergio,

This little tool has been a gem for me, I love it. Have fun with it and I do hope it works for downloading videos.

Looking forward to seeing more of your videos Sergio. I need to kick it into gear myself.

Yes it is but it’s not legal to upload it to your site and claim it as your own. Big difference.
