It’s the last Thursday of the month and also the last day of February. It’s time for me to share some posts with you that I found during my blog hopping ventures.
Funny thing is that I had found some great posts after I shared this one almost immediately so keeping it to only five posts I’m finding rather hard now.
There is so much awesome content to share but as I had explained going into this, I didn’t want to overwhelm you guys with even more good stuff to read because you might be like me and your time is limited.
Just in case and if you just so happen to be looking for more awesome blogs to read and content to learn from I think I might have just what you need here.
Okay, I’ll get to it and stop with all the talking now.
Email Marketing To Your List
Hopefully the majority of you are building your list or possibly have just gotten started. If that’s the case, Brankica had a guest blogger over at her place who just blew me away with what he shared in that post. His name is Marcus Rockey and he’s got 21 tips he’s sharing from his own experience of what’s worked for him. He had me hanging on every word.
This post is for serious marketers now, those who really want to learn what it takes to do email marketing the right way. If you’re interested, check out how to have success with your list.
What Is Search Engine Marketing
Now most of you know what search engine marketing is but when I stopped by Jens blog earlier this month he had the most comprehensive list I’ve come across so far. It includes 12 videos explaining things like what is search engine marketing, keyword research, Google’s algorithm changes, how to get detailed statistics on your site, why the search engines love WordPress and many more.
If by chance you still have a few questions they’ll all be answered in this one post.
The Most Common Security Myths About WordPress
You’ve probably heard it all. Well Dev had a guest blogger, Aritra, over at his place recently sharing the four most common security myths people have about WordPress. He’s put them all to rest. I remember having some of these same questions myself so I’m sure that anyone new to blogging will get their questions answered here.
Be sure to stop by if you’re curious to learn what these are.
Search Engines Love Longer Posts
I read one of Neil Patel’s older posts, okay it was from December, but I was stuck on every word. He actually did a comparison for web pages and blog posts and guess which one won out not only on the search engines but also for likes and shares? The longer posts… I was so thrilled to hear that because this has been an argument I’ve seen going around the web for awhile now.
Check out Neil’s post on how content length affects rankings and conversions and see for yourself. Hurray for longer posts!
Understanding Google Page Rank
I was so impressed with the post that Mayura wrote explaining exactly what Google page rank was that I thought it only fitting to share it with you as well. We all run across newbie bloggers who still don’t quite get it and I admit I use to still have questions myself. Although I can explain it to them now, I don’t do it justice like he has.
If this area still confuses you I promise you won’t have any more questions after you read this post. Mayura’s done a fabulous job with this explanation.
Hope You Enjoyed These
I try each month to bring you a variety of different topics, some that you may still have some questions about. I hope I was able to achieve that with these five.
I had about eight on my list for this month but had to decide which ones I thought you might enjoy the most or can still learn from. Wish I could include them all but I’m on a mission now for this next month to find even more wonderful posts to share. Watch out, I’ll be stopping by your place.
Thank you all again so very much for your comments and always sharing my posts with your friends. I’m sure they appreciate it as well, I know I certainly do.
Have an awesome day and can’t wait to hear what you think about this selection.

Look forward to these Adrienne!
This surely is a great selection of all those posts the each one of us would benefit from. Though I do read up Brankica’s often, I haven’t yet read this one of her guest blogger and would soon be checking out.
Similarly, other than for Neils’s and of course Mayura’s post, I need to check out all the other bloggers you mentioned. I also thoroughly enjoy Mayura’s posts as he explains things so very well, which makes it easy for anyone to understand them. I like the way you choose your posts so carefully that cover up various topics, and this in itself does take time and effort.
So, thank you so much for sharing these wonderful posts and introducing us to some new bloggers each time too. Thankful Thursday indeed.

Thank you Harleena and I “try” to choose topics that aren’t talked to death. But at the same time I also get a lot of questions from new bloggers about some things and I admit knowing a good bit but probably not able to explain it as well. Like what Mayura did with the Google PR! Brilliant and when I shared it on Facebook I had a LOT of people thank me because he explained it so well.
We all love to learn things we aren’t quite familiar with so I just hope that I can continue to give you all different information or at least not always about the same topics.
Thank you for sharing this with me and I really appreciate this Harleena. I know I’m going in the right direction at least.
Have a beautiful ending to your day and a fabulous weekend. I appreciate you so very much and I sure hope you know that.

Thank you for your posts, positiveness and links! Honestly you are about the best blogger around that I have come across so far anyway. The links you post are very helpful and when you couple that with the amazing attitude toward your readers and life in general it really makes my day! Thanks again, I most definitely will be checking these out especially email marketing which I am slowly getting into, but as previously stated, SLOWly is the key word. Hoping YOU have an amazing day.

Adrienne..
I hear you when you say “I “try” to choose topics that aren’t talked to death.” because you’re right, there are only so many topics.. but then you find a resource like Jen’s!
Yeah! Because my sweet little niece (who just started blogging) was asking me about SEO. I was trying to find her something current so this is a God send.

Glad Jens’ post was able to help your niece. Man did he ever pack that post full of goodies.
Thank you Darlene for also reading my Monday post about my Dad. He was a very special guy!

I am especially interested in the first two on emailing to your list and search engine marketing. I am going to have to go over and read those two posts.

Hi Dee Ann,
Thank you, I do my best to bring different topics to the table each month. There is so much awesome content I come across so I could load it down with 20 or more posts but who has time for that!
Those are both excellent posts. The email marketing was very very good and Marcus was sharing what really worked for him so it was darn good. Jens share on the search engine was brilliant. Those videos do explain every separate section to it so you can chose whatever area you still may need to know. He did a fabulous job with that, I was so impressed at how he put that together.
My pleasure Dee Ann and thanks for the visit this morning. I know how busy you are so I appreciate it.

Two thousand word posts? I see the data though can’t imagine anyone would read a post of that length!
This week, my post was longer than my typical 500ish length.
After reading this piece, I don’t feel guilt writing longer blogs.
Then again, coming up with solid content in 2K words will be a challenge.
Thanks, as always, Adrienne.

Yeah I know but I do Steve “if” it keeps my attention. I think the problem is that people just write to write and don’t do their best to keep your attention or you hanging on every word. I know it’s hard to do and it’s a learned process. But I was surprised at his findings and celebrating it too because my posts are usually pretty long. I use to feel guilty but with every comment it was obvious that my readers actually read everything I wrote. Now I’ve yet to write a 2,000 word post though and I bet you’re relieved about that. I know I am. Wow…
Yep, no more guilt my friend. Let her rip! The search engines love it obviously. Yay!!!
Thanks Steve and enjoy your day!

Alexa is in a league of their own. There are the different services that show ranking for different reasons. I wrote about Alexa some time back explaining how that all works and what it’s really used for.
My Alexa ranking continues to drop so over time that will continue to serve it’s purpose. It does take a little bit of time though every time Google does it’s thing.

Hi Adrienne,
You have really come up with some very informative blog posts, almost a mini course in blogging, SEO, Page Rank, Security, and how to manage your list.
Very concise blog posts.
I learned a lot from these and picked up some important tips:
The research tips are great..going to delicious and amazon to find out what my
market is interested in.
I learned so much from this post my head is swimming
I never knew to keep the title to 60 characters but it makes perfect
sense. I also like the date idea.
SEO with the tutorial videos … that alone could be a product.
So much information packed into that one.
Security of your word press blog…great information there..we really are not in a static situation
with our blogs and it appears things can change drastically for the worse if we are vigilent.
The ‘Love the Longer Posts” this is a wonderful blog with a lot of testing and results that I found fascinating.
I also read his other post about long tail key words…good stuff.
Google Page Rank, we all need to keep up with what Google is doing and especailly our page rank status or lack of.
Thank you for your finding and sharing this oh so relevant content.

Hi Tonya,
Yeah, that variety seems to be headed in those directions don’t they!
I’m so happy to hear that you’ve already learned some great things from several of these posts. The ones that Jens shared were awesome weren’t they! I mean my goodness, 12 jam packed videos all in one place. I agree, it could be a mini course.
The WordPress blog myth is one I know all bloggers want to pay attention to. We come into this really not knowing everything so learning some of these things is crucial in moving forward and protecting our property.
I loved Neil’s post too and so glad he actually tested these theories. I was kind of surprised by them actually because I have not been able to read some posts that are long but those that keep me entertained, I’ll remain there until the end.
I thought Mayura’s explanation was priceless, so easy to understand. I think that alone will help a lot of people understand how this all works.
Thank you Tonya for going through these posts and sharing your thoughts. I’m so happy that you found them all very helpful.

Happy new month in advance Adrienne,
Its amazing how this year is flying, isn’t it? Ok, i like all the post you shared here judging by introductions.
Among all, the only only one i’ve read is that of Neil Petal, Neil is one of those bloggers out there that i respect a lot, and I’ve also learnt a lot from him since i discovered his blog late last year.
Its no doubt that the issue of shot and long post has been a long debated subject just as you said, i remembered when i published the post……How TO Improve The Usability of your Blog, someone commented, suggesting that one of the ways of doing that is by always writing a short blog post which i disagreed. So i also believe that having a long interesting posts also helps in improving engagement.
I have not visited any of the other sites, but i will do that ones i get home now.
Thanks a lot for the revelation Adrienne.
More strength to your elbows.

Hi Theodore,
Ah, jumping the gun are we! Well happy new month to you too, March will be here tomorrow.
Neil shares a lot of great stuff Theodore, I don’t get by his place near enough. I need to make a regular habit of visiting some of those blogs where I learn so much from a lot more often.
I know the the length of blog posts has always been a thorn in a lot of people’s sides. I hate when I read a post that is telling it’s readers that you have to keep them short in order to keep people interested. We both know that’s not true, I’m living proof of that. Although this post is among one of my shorter ones, I’m always way over 1,000 words. I can’t help myself, I always have so much to say but people read every word. So it’s the content you’re sharing and how you’re sharing it that will keep them coming back for more. Not necessarily the length.
If you want to know more about these other topics then please do stop by when you have some time. I just appreciate your commenting on this one and sharing that with me.
You have an amazing day, a great ending to your week and a really fun weekend.

I know the length of blog posts have been an ongoing battle and it seems no matter who you ask, everyone has a different opinion. So I don’t worry to much about it. If I have something to say, I say it, even if the post runs a bit longer than normal. I also heard that Google likes a mix between longer and shorter posts. Who knows?

The length of the post will probably continue to be an ongoing issue with a lot of people. Google may love them today and hate them six months from now. I personally believe that if you have good information to share, you share it in a manner people enjoy reading and you make them feel like they’re part of the conversation then you can’t go wrong no matter how long or short it is.

I always read Jens as he had a great spin with his posts. I’ve been trying to follow Neil’s advice on longer posts. Too soon to see if Google is liking them. I will go back and read Devs too on security. All really good stuff, thanks for sharing. Glad you are having a great week. I can’t believe tomorrow starts a new month!

Hey Lisa,
That’s awesome Lisa that you’ve already read them all. Hot dog, that’ great.
I love the way Mayura explains things. He’s so helpful so I knew this topic was one a lot of people still don’t completely understand. Jens’ posts are great, I love his story telling and marketing expertise. No telling what Google will want six months from now so that’s always changing. The WordPress myths were some things I get questions on a lot too so hopefully that will be helpful for others as well.
Thanks Lisa and glad your week has been a good one as well. Yeah, March is tomorrow and I can’t believe it’s here already. Dang! I hope you enjoy what’s left of this week and have a great weekend too. We all deserve it.

Hi Adrienne,
That is a great share Adrienne, I have only read Mayura’s post about Google Page Rank and it was a really good one. I need to check the other four as they all sounded like something I want to learn more about especially wordpress myths and the email marketing.
Thanks a lot Adrienne for the great share.

I love reading Mayura’s blog, his explanations are so easy to understand and I love the screen shots he uses too.

Jens really shared it all in this one post so you’ll get a lot of good stuff from that one.
Mayura does explain things simply and this is an area not easily explained either. No way am I diving into it so why not let him take the reins with this subject.
Thanks for your comment Cori and it’s been pretty darn cold lately. Too chilly today for a walk, the wind is brutal for me. Hope that it will warm up a little though over this weekend. I intend to have a very enjoyable one. Hope you do too!

Well the one I jumped right on Adrienne was the What is Google PageRank. Although I know most of the details, I always feel like I don’t know enough. Maybe because everyone has a different opinion on what it takes to get there and Google continually changes it’s algorithm! Between the two I never know if I’ve got it all in my head. Thanks for providing this link. Gotta read that tonight after I come in from dancing.

Maybe I’m just not doing it right. lol

Hey Mitch,
Well those really popular bloggers hardly ever respond to comments. I know that people say to visit their blogs, comment on their posts and you’re going to get some great links from that. First off they have their blogs set to nofollow so they continue to get the link love, not you. I don’t usually leave a comment on their blogs because like you said, they never respond back. Or seldom.
I’m not sure what happened to some of yours but I have a feeling that it has to be more SEO keyword rich I’m sure or a topic that everyone is searching for. I mean we can’t just write stuff and expect it to be found if we’re not writing for the search engines. Now it does help with people share your content a lot because I know mine has ended up high in the search engines for posts I’ve not written for the search engines. Who the heck knows right! This stuff still boggles my mind at times.
Thanks for the share though Mitch, I appreciate you including that.

Hi Adrienne,
Went and read Mayuras post about Google and back links.
A lifesaver….January 4 two of my sites were invaded by a bot or script (according to Host Gator Support) attached to a Numbers only domain names.
I always check my referral stats to see where or if I have any links….like If I comment here then a link will appear and if clicked on comes back to the post I commented on.
Not these things…they would just sit there and in a second you would have 20 tabs open in the browser…
A Problem, but this post may provide the solution! Host Gator banned them, but the links put on in January still remain three days of it.
Will try to visit the other sites tomorrow After I do my required work.
Thank You again for your very very helpful Information….

Glad that your hosting service was able to resolve the issue but some of those links remain in place.
Hope you’ll find the other information helpful.

I try to stay up to date with the whole security thing, but there always seems to be something going around and it’s difficult to read it all. I do have concerns about plugins and themes. Some of them are getting old without any updates in a long time. Not that means they are insecure. I just hope that they are secure. And, if we have more plugins, themes, and such just how much could we be increasing our risk. It’s never ending with the whole hackers and security thing. When I first got started we didn’t even think about it, but in today’s world that is different story and security is something we all should educate ourselves with.
Anyway I enjoyed the security myths article.

Hi Ray,
It’s difficult to stay on top of everything because like most people will tell you, you can’t always be 100% secure. We can just do the best we can and pray that they’ll go bother someone else.
I have Thesis so my theme is always up to date and current. The plug-ins I do my best to check periodically to make sure they are being maintained. When you have a lot it’s hard to remember which ones were updated and which ones weren’t.
Glad you enjoyed the WordPress myth post and hope you enjoy the rest.

Hey Adrienne!
Long posts are good for SEO. That’s awesome.
I’ve been a huge fan of long posts. They are attractive to read and moreover, the information is deep enough to understand. I always love reading Neil Patel’s blogs. QuickSprout, KissMetrics, CrazyEgg and his personal blog too. He’s an awesome internet marketer.
These days, I’ve also started writing longer posts than usual. Most of them got published as guest posts though.
This reminds me of another things, I just read- Google is gonna punish blogs with dofollow links. Though it applies for paid posts, how come they don’t include guest posts. Is guest blogging really gonna fall?
Thanks for sharing.

I love long posts as long as they can keep me entertained. I mean I’ve read some that I find myself skipping over because it’s obvious they’re writing for the search engines and even where they place their keywords doesn’t make much sense. Some others I know they’re trying their best to keep us hanging on every word but they’re just not quite there yet.
Well that’s good that you’re writing more guest posts and I hope that’s helping you get more viewers to your blog.
Oh really, so if you have a paid post Google will punish you if it’s a dofollow link? Where did you read that if you don’t mind me asking? I might have to check that post out as well.

Email marketing is an area a lot of people continue to have questions about. I know that I had the hardest time truly understanding how this all works. Granted most successful marketers aren’t going to tell you to build the relationship with your readers first and if they do they don’t give you any hints of how that’s done. I thought Marcus did a fabulous job with this guest post.

I tend to write longer posts because I’m putting my own experiences in there all while sharing helpful information. I can definitely talk so I do my best to make it interesting. I know that’s what Google loves too so I don’t feel guilty at all for writing longer posts. I say go for it and if your series ends up the length of a book then break it up into a few different posts. You want to keep their attention and keep them wanting more.

I can say here after reading whole stuff that doing is not enough we really need to be active in providing better knowledge our self to grow more better. Our primary motto is to make our readers happy with every single post, optimization of that post is secondary part which is equally important to do.
I know only one rule that, help your readers and make them to enjoy more and reader will do most of your job by socializing it. A clap never sounds until two hands are there.
