This is a topic that I believe everyone struggles with at some point and time, I know I did. When I came online four years ago I thought I can do this, no problem. I was always good at figuring things out so I thought this would be a breeze.
Boy was I in for a rude awakening. It took me awhile before I started seeing some type of success because little did I realize, deep inside I didn’t 100% fully believe in myself.
I’m that person that when I put my mind to something you can’t hold me back. I do what I say I’m going to do, I’m an action taker. But that doesn’t always mean I succeed. I might run into obstacles that I don’t know how to get around or I might hit those brick walls and not know where to go from there but I’m going to give it my all.
I’ve done a lot of work on my mindset throughout my time here online but it’s always going to be a work in progress.
Why Education Is SO Important
I definitely invest in myself and my education and sometimes it ain’t cheap. I recently signed up with Katie Freiling’s program, Cash In On You. I found it very appealing because it was exactly what I needed at this time in my life.
I’ve been stumbling around for awhile now. I never really fully knew which direction I wanted to take me. I know I love to help people learn but up until now, I didn’t have a specific area that has appealed to me more. Branding yourself is crucial which is why I found this course just what I needed. Little did I realize that it would give me so much more.
Her first three weeks have consisted of helping us dig way down deep to our core to understand why we think the way we do and why we react to some things more than others. Although I’ve already come a very long way, this was just the icing on the cake for me. I’d like to share with you some of what she’s recently taught us so if you need some assistance in this area you can start working on your mindset too.
What’s Your Story
It all starts with you understanding what your story is. For instance, we were to jot down everything in our life that we believed went wrong. That’s right, everything that we felt was not good about your life. I had quite a few actually starting with me not believing I was smart enough.
We would then break each one of them down and dig a little deeper. Ask ourselves some serious questions like were we absolutely positively sure that was really true. How did that make me feel, what was the cost of me feeling that way and what was my payoff?
It’s actually a very great exercise and it really makes you start looking at your life. The next step is going through more questions but this time turning everything around. We wrote it all out and we know now how we really feel.
Next we asked ourselves who would we be without those feelings, what am I getting from this and what new possibility will I invent?
The way you truthfully respond to those questions is your real truth. All of the things that we tell ourselves in our head are just that, in our head. Who would you really be without that story? That’s the important question here and you’re the only one with the answer.
Letting Go
We are where we are for a reason and it all has to do with where our minds are. Once you finally understand why you are the way you are it’s time to start working more on who you are meant to be.
It’s doesn’t matter where you are in your life or what your current circumstances are. Your life is yours, no one else’s. We are the only ones who can change us.
Letting go of who you use to be is difficult for some people while for others it’s like the light bulb came on and they just got it. Like darn, you mean these are my choices, no one else’s. I truly can be whoever I choose to be! Wow, who would have thought it! A lot of people today live their lives for other people and that’s really a shame.
Our Feelings About Money
This training is to help us move further in our business so for most people, their thoughts on money holds them back from having what they truly desire. We started by asking ourselves more questions pertaining to money. Things like:
Money is
I am
Rich people
Making money is
Having money means
I need money in order to
You write down how you really feel to each of these statements. Then go back through the questions I shared with you earlier for handling both side of your feelings regarding each one of these statements.
Your Mindset
These exercises we’ve been through up to this point have been so crucial to learning why you think the way you do while understanding you are the only one who can do anything about that. I’m hoping that with this post you can learn how to start working on your mindset.
Go back through what I have just shared and find out who you really are because the way you think now is why you are where you are in your life. Trust me, I’m not putting anyone down here I’m just stating facts. I have no idea where you are in your life but I know where I am and where I prefer to be.
Once you do the work and really take a hard look at this, you are the only one who can do anything about it. If you aren’t quite sure what that is, be sure to go back and read my post How To Discover What You Really Want. That will be a huge help.
If you really know who you are as a person, if you love yourself and respect yourself than you only want the best for you right! So why not start treating yourself that way. Live from a place of integrity, honesty, be genuine and don’t be afraid to show your heart. Once you start living from a place like that, you will start believing in yourself more. The views you may have had about certain things may be the one thing that’s holding you back.
More To Come
I hope some of this information I shared was helpful in your journey to understanding more of why you are where you are. I can see all the things that have held me back in the past and through this course I have come to realize that. Although wonderful things have been happening for me this year already, I can see why they continue to flow. I knew this year alone would be a huge turning point for me and I’ve broken through so many barriers. It’s been a fabulous ride so far and it’s far from over.
As I continue through this course and pick up some really great information, you can bet I’ll be sharing my experiences with you. I’m sure there are plenty of you who are much further along in this process and I commend you. Watch out though, I’m catching up.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read this somewhat long post. Sorry, I do get carried away at times just trying to fit in as much information as I can.
If you have something you would like to share maybe an experience you’ve had, possibly a breakthrough, where you are right now or something that may help me, I would love to hear from you. I always find your input extremely helpful as well as valuable :-)
Until the next time!

Hi Adrienne,
I’m actually at this spot now, where I am thinking a lot about what I’m going to do next. As you already know, I have bought the affiliate course from Steve Scott, and I’m walking and listening to the audios and I’m learning a lot. But, I’m not sure if affiliate marketing is the right thing for me (well, I’m talking about a major shift towards affiliate marketing, not just earning a few dollars).
It’s very interesting to read about your experience and to learn from what you’re doing. The mindset is so important, probably the most important part of any business. I don’t believe that I’ve done anything wrong, and many people are probably like me, we just need to do different things at different times. We want to discover the world and rediscover what we discovered a long time ago. That’s why working on the mindset is a process that we should never stop doing, at least that’s what I believe. I keep reading every single day, and I have an open mind about everyting and towards all the people I meet.

Hi Jens,
I knew you were interested in looking at affiliate marketing and had bought Steve’s course. Sounds like you have some questions about which direction you want to go. Maybe I can help with that but that can wait until you get back home.
A lot of people don’t get to where they want to be in life and business because of their mindset. You might think you are thinking only positive thoughts but your subconscious mind is going yeah, whatever… When those thoughts continue to linger in the back of your head you are only holding yourself back. You have to go through the process to learn why you keep saying that to yourself and these steps will definitely do that. Once you can understand why you have doubts in yourself you can deal with them, get rid of them and move on with your life. That’s huge for anyone still going at the same pace and not wondering why they haven’t gotten any further down the road.
It’s not that we are doing anything wrong, a lot of times we don’t even realize we are doing them. Yep, mindset is the key to you getting anywhere in life.
Thanks Jens, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by. Always great to hear from you!
I believe along with mindset there is an issue with passion here. Probably Jens is not really excited about Aff Marketing but wants to pursue this for the reason that he has heard cool things about it…. I mean if you are not driven towards a topic you cant force and change your mindset….
Its like a kid watching a Superman on TV. He sees that his hero is in utter trouble but keeps repeating that things will go easy and he will win. Once you are completely attached to your goal at a sub conscious level you just dont want to waste time doubting your self.
Hope I am going on the right track ?

Hi Himanshu,
I did a post earlier on finding your passion and what you want to do with your life. I believe you might be right about Jens, he’s heard great things about it and thought he would give it a try but I don’t really believe his heart is in that. He loves writing and I have no doubt he will be a published author soon. But in the meantime he would like to make some extra money. It’s great to be passionate about what you want to do with your life, that I definitely agree. It all starts with your mindset, that I do know for sure.
Thank you for your insights Himanshu, I appreciate that and for your visit to my blog. Nice to have you here and hope to see you again soon.
Adrienne,
Thanks for sharing your recent experience. I can’t wait to see what transpires and how it will help you in other ways.
I can really relate to your experience. Up until a few months ago i was working in a vaccuum, it wasn’t until after i started getting help through different coaching and mentors did i see a jump in my confidence and subsequently progress of my goals.
I wish i had done it sooner but better late than never right?

Hi Annie,
I’m a sponge Annie for anything that is going to get me to where I need to be. I’ve really learned a lot but sometimes when we aren’t where we thought we would be by a certain time we have to step back and look at us as a whole. There is a reason we aren’t any further and the majority of times it has to do with our thinking. Those little voices in our heads that keep popping up saying things like, I told you so or there’s no way you can do that. Not that we don’t outwardly believe we have that confidence but inwardly we still have issues to deal with. What a learning experience this has been. You are right, working with a coach or mentor will really help in this way which is why I highly recommend it. We can’t get to the top alone.
Appreciate you stopping by… Hope all is well with you.

Adrienne,
I like those type of exercises. Sometimes you think they’re boring. But you change your mind when you see the result.
I often have difficulties working with my mindset. But now I am better than before I guess. I am still looking for that power that comes from within, you know. Once I get that, I can achieve a lot. I am sure about them.
Adrienne, thanks a lot for sharing this valuable info. You’ve been sooooo helpful!
Take good care friend.

Hey Mouh, hope you are doing well this morning my friend.
These types of exercises really make you think you know! I mean sometimes we don’t really understand why we are the way we are. Where those thoughts of lack really come from. Once you put them all out on the table and start asking yourself if they are really really true is when you can have that shift. Once you realize deep down inside they aren’t really true you have just taken that next step and jumped over that hurdle.
Working on your mindset is a never ending process. You will continue to get better and better with time so whatever you do, just keep moving forward. She shared with us on the power that comes from within and I finally “got it” and it really made a huge difference for me. I’m unstoppable now.. I thought I was bad before, wow…
Glad this was helpful Mouh and I always appreciate hearing from you. Glad you found this helpful!
Adrienne,
I love what you have shared – and plan to especially go over those questions you’ve brought up around money.
This reminds me, very much, of a weeklong leadership seminar I attended a little over a year ago. Part of that was reviewing the results of an essay-based 360 review – and especially focusing on the negatives that came out of that. By the end of our week together, we had become a small group of people who knew each other in ways that even good friends probably didn’t. And it was all about being open and honest with each other. What a transformative week that was, and one that continues to enrich my life – know what I can draw upon from that time.
Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful thoughts here – so, so good…

Hi Lance,
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been doing a lot of work on myself but when we really got down to the core of why we react to certain things or maybe what’s holding us back it was an eye opener. We sometimes aren’t even aware that we are doing this or thinking a certain way. I found this to be so enlightening. It’s been so helpful as I continue with my journey of releasing everything from the person I use to be.
I appreciate your comment and thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I enjoy hearing what others think and if you have been through anything such as this as well. Glad to hear you’ve done some of this same work as well and found it to be very rewarding.
It’s great that you have the time to invest in your education, that means you’ve already mastered the techniques you use right now.
Can’t say that about me, i’m still struggling with some methods, no point in learning new ones.

Education is the key to everything Martin and we all need to invest in ourselves. I will proudly admit that I have mastered a lot of areas that I once had a lot of difficulty in so consistency is definitely the key.
You are a work in progress my friend. Just never give up on yourself and keep moving forward. Like everything else in life, it will all start to fall into place.
Thanks for your comment, really appreciate you taking the time.
I know, i’m not giving up just yet. First thing on the road to achieving great things is to admit to yourself you don’t yet know everything.
Thanks for the warm thoughts.
Twitter: adriennesmith40
July 19, 2011 at 6:53 PM
Never give up Martin you just have to believe in yourself enough to know that you can achieve what you put your mind to. It’s getting rid of that self doubt talk that is important so when you start working on your mindset and going through some of these exercises, you can dig down deep and learn what’s been holding you back. It’s a great lesson.
Adrienne, it sounds like this course is really great.
Changing our mindset is so hard! We have been conditioned over the years to think and act in certain ways. It takes real effort to change that. It isn’t impossible, just hard.
You are so right that education is key. Putting that education to work is vital. Having the knowledge is worth nothing unless we put what we learn into practice!

Hey Steve,
This course is truly amazing, I’m learning so much. I’ve already done a lot of the work she’s covering but she’s diving way down deep and that’s really helping me understand how to deal with thoughts once they arise.
I’ve always been about change. It makes me sad actually when I hear someone way, “well that’s just the way it is” or “that’s how I am just get over it”. No you can change, anyone can change but it’s a choice and no one can make that choice for you. If you want to have more and be more you have to do more. You can’t have everything living in the same mindset you are currently in. It just won’t happen.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me Steve, I really appreciate hearing what others think and where they are in their lives.
Adrienne,
Seems like you’re doing just fine because I literally see you everywhere around the internet. But I agree, when everything else around you stinks, there is no better investment than yourself. It’s the only investment that noone can ever take away from you!

Hey Paul,
I’ve been a work in progress my friend. You have to work on yourself before you can get to where you want. And you are right, I’m a lot of places now but it wasn’t always like that. Just glad I stepped outside my comfort zone.
When you work on yourself you can soar to new heights. It’s amazing…

Adrienne, I love how you delved into the reasons beneath the way we think and act in this article!
Our thoughts and core beliefs about ourselves and the world are what truly affects our attitudes and actions. We may think our life happiness or success is the result of what we’ve achieved but this is simply not true!
We’re happy or unhappy based on our core beliefs and how we see the world. At first we may not realize we have a choice in the matter but self-discovery leads us to realize that our beliefs are at the core of everything we experience in life.
Once we realize what beliefs we hold, we can practice a gentle re-parenting of ourselves and choose a new belief that is to our liking.

Very well put Chrysta, very well put indeed. You are SO right and I’ve been learning so much through this experience. Once you know the reasons then it’s time to work on yourself and once you do the doors will just start opening for you. To me it was like I was being blinded by flashbulbs going off the aha moments were hitting me so hard. I love that when that happens.
Thanks again for sharing this, I really appreciate your input on this subject. Very well said indeed.

You said two things that resonated with me “I feel like I’m stumbling around” and “I love myself”.
In the social media world sometimes I feel like I’m stumbling because I know there are certain things you should be doing when you reach certain levels. I think I have plateaued and need to take the next step, but have been kind of stumbling around lately just existing in this space.
As far as loving myself, I would marry myself if I could…………..:). Nah, but I have reached a point I am very comfortable in my skin and my station in life. If this was as good as it gets, I would be fulfilled. I’m having fun in here and in real life; that’s what is is all about, right?
The one thing the exercise does is make you THINK. Too many times we don’t give ourselves enough thinking time. It’s amazing how much clarity you can achieve when you force yourself to do this.
Thanks for sharing this; looking forward to more.

Ah you are pulling a me now huh Bill!!! Just stumbling around. I’ve been like that for awhile but things are just now starting to come together. Had another aha moment just today after talking with a friend on this subject.
You are doing a great job with your blog and you are still getting lots of love. I say don’t worry about it since it’s an enjoyable task for you and not a business you have to worry about building.
You are right, these exercises have definitely gotten me to think and not about things just on the surface. But to dig way down deep and figure all those little insecurities we’ve had at some point in time because whether we realize it or not, they haven’t been resolved and still have a lot to do with some of the decisions we continue to make today. Once you really sit down and face them, you realize just how great you really have things. At least I do but then again, I’ve known that for quite awhile now.
Thanks my friend and stay tuned. I’ll be sharing more as I continue through this course. Hope you’ll find it helpful.

HI Adrienne,
Great post and help you have shared here from your own experience my friend.
I believe we take on projects like starting businesses essentially as a context for us to expand personally although externally we may have different reasons for doing so.
What is important to remember as you say is that only we can change our mindset and it requires a process that takes as long as it takes.
Also whatever comes up for one is our own personalized learning curriculum. We can’t compare ourselves with anybody else.
What can often stand in the way of one’s progress which is something I battled with is that we can resist the changes required. All this does is prolong the process and cause ourselves more suffering.
When we realize that we are worthy exactly as we are then we can forgive and love ourselves, stop the madness of self inflicted suffering and allow ourselves to be all that we are.
Thank you for sharing such wonderful value here Adrienne.

Very well said Marcus, very well said. You are so right my friend. Sometimes we think we’ve changed our mindset until we are presented with certain situations and that’s when we realize that we have more work to do. This happened to me early on so I had not dug deep enough to find out why these blocks continued to hold me back.
I appreciate your input as always. I know you’ve been through this process so it’s always great to hear from people who have been through this, gotten to the other side and are reaping the rewards from all your hard work.
Thank you Marcus…

Adrienne,
What you have shared here is awesome insights in gaining smaller day to day success which leads to greater successes down the road. I do believe that success is a mindset game, and what you discussed above relates to that.
I have heard so much about Katie and her programs. Seems to me like you are building more on your already awesome mindset. Loved reading the post and plan on implementing the tactic about asking questions to myself.
Thanks Adrienne. You Rock my friend!

Katie’s course is really helping me dive way down deep and it’s definitely working. You know I enjoy sharing what I learn with all of you. It’s some pretty powerful stuff. Would love to hear how this works out for you as well. What little things are lingering deep down in there that you haven’t quite resolved.

Hey Rick,
You are right my friend, your mindset is the key… I definitely will continue sharing what I’m learning and hope this will help others learn as well.
See you soon!
Hey Adrienne,
You know I’ll love this post! And I want to congratulate you for taking another huge step in your personal growth, by taking the Katie Freiling course. It is also very interesting to read the comments here, and as you pointed out the challenges get bigger and bigger as we discover more about our selves and our core.
This article made me smile because I remember how I ‘educate’ hubby about mindset , especially in programming our subconscious and also manifestation process, only to ask myself after , if I will be able to actually do everything I advice him to do once I get employed again. You see, I’ve never really put all that I’ve been learning into test yet, as I have been working at home. Although I can see dramatic changes about my habits and the way I relate to people, the real test is when I’m in a corporate setting, exposed to not-so-positive minded people. Well, I am actually looking forward to that day!
I appreciate you sharing your journey with us, Adrienne. I am cheering you on as always =)

Hi Rowena,
I thought you might enjoy reading about this particular journey that I’ve been on I am really loving this course and although I’ve done a lot of work on myself already, this really just summed everything up for me. I love breaking through certain boundaries and this course has really been amazing up to this point.
Oh, the do as I say don’t do as I do… I know what you mean. Luckily for me I’m not still in the corporate world but from time to time I am still around a few people who don’t really have a negative attitude but they do still have some limiting beliefs. I just smile to myself when I listen to them and I only say something if they ask my advice. Other than that, I just keep to myself. We both know people won’t change unless they are ready so sharing something with them they aren’t ready to hear usually has the opposite affect.
Hope your move back into the corporate world goes smoothly. Just glad you will be continuing on this journey as well.
Thanks for stopping by I appreciate your support. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Adrienne, another great post.
I remember years ago having to take a good long look at who i was and where I was heading. I spoke to a friend about my situation and was told “only you can change it”.
I had another good long look and made a decision to better myself. Since then i have been moving forward and now feel that i am slowly getting to where I want to be. I still have a fair way to go but I know that I’m heading in the right direction and I am making progress.
It is all about having the right mindset and a positive outlook, focusing on what and where we need to apply ourselves.
Great write up Adrienne
Respect and Regards, Barry

July 20, 2011 at 9:49 AM
Thank you for sharing that with me Barry, I really appreciate it! I know when I began this journey I did believe in myself. When I put my mind to something I go at it full force. But when I started running into obstacles along the way or couldn’t find the right information I would get frustrated and start questioning myself. That’s never a good thing when you are on the path to success.
Changing the way you think and feel is crucial and these exercises have been wonderful in helping me down this path. This year has been huge for me anyway and things have just been flowing for me so this is another step in the right direction.
Appreciate your thoughts on this subject my friend and thanks again for stopping by. Always a pleasure to see you.
Letting go of something seems to be the hardest part especially if you are used to do it. It will take sometime before you can forget it. But little by little, you will completely realize that you are doing some worthwhile things for your own good.

Adrienne! Sounds like this is a great program for you. I learned this year that you should invest in yourself. Top CEO’s have coaches. The best athletes in the world has many coaches that help them. I do believe you can get to the top w/o paying for coaching or a program but it might just take longer.
There are people who pay thousands of dollars for a weekend seminar so there are people willing to pay for it!
As for the importance of mindset, I believe it’s so important. Everything we do begins with a thought. That thought propels us forward to take action or holds us back in fear.
Again, sounds like a great program you’re doing and look forward to reading more about what you’re learning from it! Gotta go vote for Christian again!

You are right Benny, I tried doing this by myself and just keep beating my head against the wall. It’s really best to have a coach, mentor or a type of training program/community that can really help you in whatever area you need. This particular course is giving me all the missing pieces to this final puzzle I’m putting together.
Your mindset is key to getting everything in life you want. It’s so very true, what you think about you bring about whether you consciously realize it or not. It’s those subconscious thoughts you have to learn how to change, that’s key.
Thanks for your comment my friend and by all means, don’t forget to vote. That’s so important for Christian…

Great post Adrienne, I totally agree in investing into some proper education. At the end of the day, you got to sacrifice some money in order to start earning and having those breakthroughs. Benny hit it on point … everything starts with a winning mindset. My continuation of the answer would be “great” for “our feelings about money” section. Look forward to reading more of what you have to share as you continue along with the course.

Failure is a stepping stone to success. There are plenty of things we succeed at and fail in plenty of them.
For an entrepreneur, it is very important to learn from failures and move on. I find it difficult to understand people who are in some business only for earning money. I don’t know how much most of them can keep the motivation going. In a business, often it goes like this content, contact and then money. If this rule is broken , there is no money at the end of the line.
I had my share of troubles when I started my first business, only to close it down in six months. It was a depressing period but I have moved on and things have been better
Hope you are having a good day, Adrienne.

You are SO right Ashvini… I use to look at it as a bad thing, that I just couldn’t do something but it’s just a stepping stone to success. I love that!
Failing is a part of learning and growing and had we not gone through that, I believe we wouldn’t appreciate where we are right now.
I believe that money motivates a lot of people but if you were to sit down and have a heart to heart talk with someone like that you would soon learn that they are very unhappy deep down inside. I once had a boss that was like that and on the outside people thought he was the luckiest man on earth. I knew the truth. He was so miserable, he was unhappy in his marriage, he drank a LOT and had a lot of health problems. Now who’s lucky!
I’m sorry to hear of your troubles at one time but I’m sure you learned plenty from that experience and it’s made you a better man because of it. I have no doubt you are where you are meant to be.
I always appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts with me. I definitely will have a wonderful day and I wish you the same.

I’m between jobs/businesses at the moment Adrienne and I was visiting my mate who said now was the perfect time to finish my teaching degree, I quit with a semester to go. I entertained the idea for about ten seconds and told him no way. I couldn’t see myself going back to school, and anyway my reasons for not wanting to become a teacher hasn’t changed.
That brings me to this post. Perhaps what I need is to work on my mindset, but if that means I have to take on a course I’m afraid I can’t see myself heading in that direction. Reckon that is where the mindset comes in

Is it that you can’t see yourself going back to the corporate structure or you just don’t enjoy teaching? I’d be curious to know… It also sounds like you just don’t enjoy school, learning, classes, courses, etc.
The way I view this Sire is that this is your life and these things can help you move forward in your life through growing as a person. This particular course that I’m taking is a seven week course but only the first three weeks dealt with our mindset. Diving deep down and figuring out who we really are, what we really want and what direction we want to go. From there we will learn how to implement all of that so within just these first three weeks I’m learned why I think the way I do about certain things that I subconsciously didn’t realize still bothered me. Once you get all of that out of the way and you finally realize what has been holding you back, you are free to take off and start living the life you deserve. Make sense? For you, you could just read some books that would probably help do the same thing. Maybe not all in just one but if you enjoy reading that would be a great direction to go.
Sire my friend, you are destined for great things. Don’t let a little thing like learning stand in your way!

Although I never really enjoyed school I did pretty well at it. In fact some of the best times I had was at school because all I had to do was attend, listen and learn. It wasn’t until I hit the workforce that all the other pressures come to play such as paying bills and supporting your family.
As far as teaching was concerned, I only ever took it up because I thought that was what my parents wanted. Again I was doing pretty well but I knew my heart wasn’t in it and I felt I would be doing the kids a disservice by sticking with it for all the wrong reasons.
What really made up my mind was when I had to actually stand in front of the class, on my own, and give a lesson. It was terrifying. Perhaps I should have stuck it through and it would have gotten better but that was the day I got the courage to tell my dad that I wasn’t cut out to be a teacher. Instead of being upset he said he always thought that I wanted to be a teacher and if that wasn’t the case I should do something else.
At 52 I reckon I’ve come to a time in my life where I am happy with who I am and it’s not that I am scared about learning something new, I just don’t like taking the time to do a seven week course. In think that is why I ran my own business for so long, because I did what I had to do not because someone told be to do it but because I knew it had to be done.
That’s why I love blogging so much, it’s always there when I need it. I blog when the mood hit’s me and not because I have a regime to keep. I’m probably rambling but that’s just the way I am.

I totally get that Sire and if you were just doing it to please others but not yourself then by all means I wouldn’t bother either. We are close in age and I reached that point four years ago that I was tired of doing what was expected of me because I was always told I’m the “responsible one” in the family. I was and I believe I still am it’s just that I’m not taking that mapped out route any longer. My mother about had a heart attack when I told her I was leaving the corporate world to try something on my own. Not that I couldn’t accomplish what I set out to do but it’s that mentality that you can’t have success unless you work for someone else. It’s just ingrained in their thinking.
I’m so thrilled that you love blogging so much, I do too. Not only am I able to share with others what I learn but I’m finding out how much others really appreciate it and the awesome people I’ve had the privilege to meet along the way. Continue doing what you love and you will be so much happier. Can’t wait to hear what you have up your sleeve next. Hope your lottery site is coming along nicely.
Thanks for rambling, I enjoyed getting to know this about you. I just appreciate you sharing. See why commenting is so awesome!

Commenting is awesome isn’t it, especially when you have a real dialogue happening, something you can’t have when people leave monologue replies, which is why I usually delete those.
As to the lottery site, I’ve made my first sale and so that is one customer on the books. I made a $2 commission on his first purchase which doesn’t sound like much but sometimes in business you have to realise it’s not the amount of profit in the sale, in this case it was 10%, but the amount of products you can sell at that margin. So selling one product a week with a $50 margins isn’t as good as selling 100 with a $2 margin.
That is what I am aiming for, having a regular customer base that buy tickets on a weekly basis. If I can encourage 100 people to join in my first year then I know I can expect at least $200 a week. I’m hoping for higher numbers but 100 seems an achievable goal.
I’m also hoping that others will join as affiliates under me as that will add to even more income. Man, this working from home lark is something I should have gotten into long, long ago.

Commenting is awesome Sire, I love it when people share things with me that make me stand up and take notice, help me along or just contribute to the conversation. I think we all would prefer more contribution to the conversation but I admit at times, most of what I’m thinking has already been shared. But you are right, the short one liners are mostly out the door with me too.
$2 is $2 and like you say, you have to start somewhere. Some people never even make that so it’s a beginning right! That also sounds like a very reasonable goal and I have no doubt that you will reach it. You’re a go getter and sharing information that helps others so that makes them interested in what you have to offer. That’s the name of the game.
I’m with you, I wish I had gotten into this a lot sooner in my life but I really honestly never searched the web for things like that when I was stuck behind a desk. I thought that was what I was suppose to do and I was good at it. As the years went by, I enjoyed it less and less. But we’re here now and that’s all that matters right!
Thanks Sire for sharing this with me. I wish you the best of luck my friend. Have a fabulous weekend.

It is amazing just how much mindset plays into your everyday life. Your mindset effects every aspect of your life from how healthy you are to how much money you make in life.
I honestly believe your mindset has a lot to do with how you were raised by your parents.

July 21, 2011 at 10:35 AM
They say that from the age of seven everything about who you are as a person has already been instilled in you so that definitely comes from your parents. In the case of my parents, they were raised in the depression so they didn’t see people who were poor succeeding in life and having everything they ever wanted. My Mom saved every single penny she had and we were always told we couldn’t afford something.
All of this plays a huge part of what kind of person you become because let’s face it, we don’t know any better. Unless we are introduced to people, things, books, etc. that can open our minds to the possibilities, we all just stay within our little comfort zone and continue life just the way it’s always been. Nice and safe!
Thanks for your comment Larry, always enjoy hearing from you. Thank you for that!

Adrienne, you do such an amazing job of sharing your journey with us while getting us to examine our own lives. Well done!
I agree, mindset is the foundation for all we do. A positive mindset can help you achieve success or bounce back from failure.
You have a fabulous mindset, Adrienne, and are a shining example of the power of a positive mindset! Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

Why thank you Carolyn, I appreciate that!
I felt that it was just much easier for me to share my real life experiences since I’m going through a lot of what others are as well. I just hope that whatever I share will be of some help to others because I constantly am having aha moments. I love learning new things and opening my mind to possibilities I never realized were even there. Our mindset is definitely the foundation for everything we do, you are so right.
Thank you again, I really appreciate you! Have a great day!

Hi Adrienne
Hope all is well with you busy Lady!
Adrienne this is a terrific post, full of great information and advice and thank you for sharing your experiences.
It looks as though you are benefiting a great deal from the program you are engaged in.
When I first started out online I was constantly running head first into problems, to me it felt like I would take two steps forward and three back! My frustration would often get the better of me and I would walk away from the project I was working on never to return to it. It beat me!
Eventually a very dear friend made me realize that when you set out on a journey to achieve something … you must believe in yourself, always think positive, never be satisfied, always look for ways to improve and never ever give up. I am pleased to say I did take his advice!
I no longer look at a problem “as being a problem” I look at how I can fix it or benefit from it!
If we have the right “mindset” Adrienne we can achieve anything.
Thanks again for a great post Adrienne … Tweeted and +1nd!

Hey Ian,
Everything is fabulous with me today, thanks for asking. Hope all is well with you too my friend. Looking forward to an enjoyable weekend?
This program to me is exactly what I needed at this point in my journey. It’s kind of putting everything I’ve learned up to now all together. I’ve been on this journey for awhile now and I’ve learned some wonderful things. I purchased this course because I wanted it to help me figure out my “brand”. I’ve been kind of all over the place since first coming online so I now know what I enjoy doing the most it’s just putting those into words that will attract others. Little did I know that I was going to get this added bonus along with what I’ve been learning. The lessons she’s pointed out about why we think the way we do and how to get around those.
I’m so thrilled that you took your friends advice. They are lessons we need to learn, aren’t they! I don’t know about you, but I’m so thrilled I learned them or I wouldn’t be where I am today.
I appreciate you sharing my content Ian and +ing it as well. You’re a doll!

I enjoyed your article. We can only create sucess from the inside out. And the only way to create it is by changing our thoughts and habits. We see what we expect to see. We have what we expect to have in our lives. What we focus on the most expands.
If my life is not what I want it to be, my thoughts have not been in alignment with it. This can be a tricky concept to understand.

Thank you Rachel and I’m happy to hear you enjoyed this one. You definitely shared with us exactly what we need to do in order to have what we want in life. I couldn’t have said that better myself.
I appreciate your comment and than you again for taking the time to visit today.
Yes, this is a struggle indeed. When you work, it will all start in setting up your mind. Proper mind setting is the key to success. Since when you believe in something you will likely to success in it. Thus, failure in mind set would partially mean failure in your goal.

That’s so true Samantha, what you think about you definitely bring about. I’ve learned that is really how it works. When you believe in yourself, things will start happening in a very positive way. If you don’t, the opposite will definitely happen. I prefer the positive so much more, don’t you?
You are right with the positive attitude! Yet, we can’t really hide the fact that it’s very hard to continue thinking positive if you can entirely see all the negativity into your life. Well, I think everybody must think the law attraction to start the positive thinking.

August 9, 2011 at 10:57 AM
I have a friend Samantha that is just now learning this. He’s been studying the law of attraction for awhile but told me recently, that stuff doesn’t work. He went on to complain and tell me why and I shared with him what he was doing wrong. After explaining to him everything it’s like the light bulb went on for the first time. I think that most people aren’t getting the full jest of how this all works which to me is really sad. That’s how I was about four years ago. Only being fed tiny bits and pieces. Once the entire thing was explained to me, I was able to change the way I thought about things and start actually attracting more into my life. So all of those negative things that most people have in their lives right now, once they take full responsibility for why they are there, they can then get a whole new outlook on this and move forward in the right direction.
As always, thank you for your comment, I love hearing what you have to share.
well i think , people have to keep in their minds that money is only mean that they can make their dreams come true positively. and making money, work in process means that i need money to fulfill their need.
The purpose of education is only money.

But if you don’t love what you do and want to help others, that’s the greedy side of you and your mindset is eventually going to get in the way of your true happiness. When you really go down the list of your core values in life, you will realize that money is not anywhere close to the top of that list unless you don’t have any family, friends or care about people. Then I can say you are probably right.
Thank you for this NIcholas. It’s always great to get other people’s opinions on this subject.
You are absolutely correct. Somewhere in our lives we have some sort of struggle with this. In that kind of a situation this post will be more than handy as it covers all the important areas while providing a good guidance as well. Well done
Just asking yourself the things what you have done wrong and analyzing it is already a step to success. Putting things in good perspective and trying to change what you think is wrong with yourself is a hard task but in the end it will be doing a lot of good to you. This article really let me think of myself. Thanks Adrienne..

Welcome back Sophia and I’m thrilled to hear that this post was helpful. I don’t think anyone really enjoys digging down deep within themselves and finding all those things that we don’t necessarily like. It’s the doing something about it part that is crucial to anyone who truly wants to break through and learn how they can become the person they were always meant to be.
I appreciate you sharing this, thank you so much.

Excellent stuff here.
Completely agree. One of the most important questions to ask yourself is ‘why’. Why do you do what you do? Why did you start your business? Why do you wake up in the morning?
When we start to get answers to those questions we start to realize a thing or two about ourselves. Mindset is so crucial.

Hey Brock,
Thanks for your comment and I’m thrilled to hear that you enjoyed this post. I think a lot of people believe their “why” is money motivated. Sure, we can’t survive without it but it’s what you get with what the money will buy you is what people are truly after. My thinking along those lines is actually freedom. I’m not a materialistic person so “things” aren’t my driving force but I’ve learned it is for a lot of people.
I’m happy to hear that you really get it. That’s wonderful!!! Thank you for stopping by and contributing to this post. Really means a lot.
Hope you’ve had a fabulous day and hope to see you again soon.

Adrienne, thank you so much for taking the time to share these exercises! They are exactly what I need to help me clarify my vision in life as well. As I mentioned in your blog post on “How to Discover What You Really Want,” I spent the long bus rides to and from Ecuador thinking about my “Why.” I realized that the essence of what I love and what’s meaningful to me is energizing people to follow their passion and make the changes they dream of for themselves through the written word, whether through step-by-step articles or stories.
I also really like how you mention that our feelings about money can often get in the way. I recently joined a money group and talking openly about money has been really freeing!
Thanks as always for the insights here, Adrienne! =)

Hi Samantha,
You know I love sharing what I have learned and I thought these exercises were an eye opener for me as well. So glad you found them just as rewarding.
Don’t you love it when you have plenty of time to just think about what’s really important to you and the things you thought were driving you really aren’t at all. I mean take money for instance. We all think that everything is about making money because money is something we all need in order to survive. But when you start doing these exercises you suddenly realize that what you really want is what the money can give you, not the money itself. To me I found that so freeing. Once you take those thoughts away from that, you can find your true meaning.
Thank you for sharing that with me Samantha and I’m so happy you have found your true passion. Something you are already so very good at young lady!
This is a really helpful post, because I think that people just attempt to change their mindset without trying to really understand it first, and that’s not going to get anyone anywhere! It’s important to understand how your mind works before setting out to change anything because what works for one person might not work for another. Great post, thanks
Sandy

Glad you found this post helpful Sandy. I’ve had some conversations with some people lately and they also think differently on how to accomplish this task. But it’s just because they haven’t dove further into learning everything there is to know about how to go about changing your mindset. They’ve only read a few things so without implementing everything, it’s going to be hard to do.

Glad to hear that you have been on your own journey and working with youth and life coaching, great areas to be involved in. I’ve participated in the life coaching before and it was so helpful for me.
