The problem is that you still don’t seem to be getting anywhere.

Don’t throw in the towel just yet though.

You might feel like your blog is failing miserably and you are tired and worn out by this whole process.

I want to share something with you that I believe will give you some hope.  Maybe help you understand that it’s never too late to turn things around and start fresh.

I’m going to share with you what happened to me!

That’s right, I’ve been where you are and I’ve felt your frustration.

I was tired and worn out but I just knew this was where I was supposed to be.

I was failing miserably with my blog but I refused to give up.

Getting Nowhere With Your Blog

As I shared in my post last week, there are so many different layers to blogging and in order to do well you have to have all of those in place.

Some have this down pat while the majority of people that I work with definitely don’t.

That’s why they’re failing miserably.  That’s why they’re tired and worn out.

They may love writing about what they’re writing about, they may even be getting people to read their content and they might even be getting some comments and shares.

The problem is that they aren’t clear on what it is that they do exactly, they aren’t clear on who their audience really is, they aren’t clear on what it is they want their audience to do and because of that their audience isn’t taking action.

If you don’t have any of that in place then you will continue to get nowhere with your blog.

The Popular “How To” Posts

People LOVE “how to” posts.  They love to learn and they love learning from you for free.

My blog took off around the early part of 2011 and do you want to know why my posts became so popular?

I was teaching people how to do things that I had learned that got results.

People LOVE those types of posts but the problem is that they will get a lot of attention, they will get a lot of comments, they will get shared a lot on social media but you’re teaching them everything they need to know.

Why would they pay you when you’ve just taught them everything that they needed to know so they could do it themselves!

Giving away valuable information for free is what we should all be doing but don’t give away the farm.

I gave away the farm, the whole shebang.

Not a very smart thing to do and that’s what I see a lot of people doing as well.

Oh you’ll get attention and people will love the heck out of you but you can’t survive on giving away everything for free.

Here’s the problem with free.

People don’t value it as much.

That one took me a long time to wrap my head around.  I thought I was honestly helping those that were struggling financially.  Those who were eager to make something of this but were on a very tight budget.

What I found was that they rarely took action.

They made excuses or found something else to do.  That just meant that what I was teaching them for free really wasn’t that important to them.

If they have to pay for the information though they are a heck of a lot more serious.

So look at it that way from this moment forward.

Share with them how to do something up to a point but stop giving away the farm.

How Things Turned Around

Here’s the great thing that came out of me having built up such a great following because of all the information I continued to give away for free.

I was sharing great stuff I admit and what I shared got results.  But what got people’s attention even more was that everywhere you turned there I was.

I was actually having conversations in the comment section and people wanted the same thing to happen on their blogs.

My audience started asking me to create a course that would teach them how they could build their own blog community.

I just happened to stumble upon something that no one else was teaching.

Even though I shared a good bit of what they needed to do in my posts they still wanted something all in one place.  That meant that I was attracting some serious buyers instead of dead beat freebie seekers.

So I created my course and it did really well.  I still sell plenty of them today without me even having to promote it.

That’s because it works.

It’s about how to connect with others so that you can have your own loyal fan following.  Those are the people who are going to help spread the word about you.

In order for this to work for you though you have to be doing something that perhaps not many others are teaching.

Your Goal With Your Content

So let’s talk about content for a moment.

I did pretty well with selling my course but now I was known as the relationship queen.  My title actually was Engagement Superstar thanks to Danny Iny for running that contest at the end of 2011 and giving me that title.

So very flattering, definitely, but it’s not all I wanted to be known for because I can teach you how to connect with others and build your community but if everything else isn’t in place then you’re still not going to do well.

It’s all about having all those pieces in place.

I had to get all those pieces in place in order for me to move forward.

I did have a consulting business per the requests of my readers and I did okay.

My problem was that I wasn’t happy just with what I was known for and I wasn’t attracting the audience I wanted to work with.  I was where you probably are right now.

So I worked with a coach and he helped me learn how to make that switch and get on the right path.

Things started taking off once I was crystal clear on what I did and who I helped.

I’ve always written in a conversational tone and made my audience feel like I was speaking just to them.

My issues were, and I have a feeling yours are as well, that I wasn’t speaking directly to my target audience.  I was still wanting to help everyone.

As a result of this change, my business has exploded.

I’ll have anywhere from 15 to 18 free consulting calls each month.

How many of those work with me?

It all depends but for now it’s been running around five to seven clients each month.

This is the REALLY cool thing that I wanted to share with you too.

Hopefully you read my blog post last week because it was a good one.  If not then be sure to check that out because this is what happened.

I received two emails from two separate people who have never visited my blog before.  They saw the title of my post on Twitter, it resonated with them, they clicked the link and read the post, what I shared hit home with them, they emailed me and one of them is now a new client.  The other one is having a free consultation with me today.


I spoke to them, I drew them in, they resonated with what I shared and they took action because they were at that place.

For most people it takes several times for someone to read your content before they’ll take that kind of action.  This is proof though that some people are just ready now.

You’ve heard how important headlines are.  Well there ya have it, there’s the proof that they do work so make yours count.

Once they read your headline then you need to be speaking just to them and helping them with that one problem.

You need to draw them in so much that they’re eager to 1) keep learning from you or 2) ready to take that next step.

Looks Are Deceiving

We’re in 2016 now and things are changing whether you like it or not.

You’re tired and worn out because what you have been doing all this time isn’t working.

What you’ve been taught to do isn’t bringing you the results.

You’re here reading this post because what I’m sharing with you is resonating with you at that core level.

You are the only one that knows how well you’re doing.

You can fake it all you want and come across as being super successful if that’s what makes you happy but I have a feeling that’s not the case.

You are still failing miserably with your blog after all this time and you want to know how to turn everything around and start over today.

Well here’s the secret my friend.

You have to have ALL of those layers in place in order to get anywhere with your blog.

Improving Yourself

It’s taken me four years to get to where I am today.

I had to learn how to turn things around for myself. Are you ready to do the same?

I was able to accomplish this and although it was no easy task it is VERY doable.

Remember that your goal is NOT to help everyone.

You only want to help those people who are your target audience so you need to speak just to them and help them with their issue.

Even if you don’t think you’re a very good writer I believe you can do this.

Stop stressing yourself out and trying to do all these busy tasks that are getting you nowhere.

Start concentrating on what it is that you need to do in order to turn all of this around.
