How To Insert An Image In An Aweber Opt-In Form

April 3, 2014 | By Adrienne Smith

I’ve been implementing a few updates on my blog and some of those included graphics in my sidebar and in my opt-in boxes.

After showing you in my video what I had done, several of my readers and subscribers asked me how the heck I inserted that graphic in my opt-in form.

Don’t you hate it when people respond and tell you, “oh it’s so easy”!  Yeah, maybe for you but if you don’t have a clue then not so much.

So I thought I’d just shoot you a video and show you how I did that so you can start creating your own graphics using the coolest image program I’ve found so far and then insert your fabulous creations into your own opt-in boxes.

Ready to learn?

Opt-In Boxes Made Easy

So there you have it, an easy way for you to create your own cool opt-in boxes without relying on anyone else.

Now if someone knows how to create borders for those then I’m all ears.  I’ve yet to figure that one out.

If you are using Aweber and want to create your own cool opt-in boxes then I hope you’ll find this video helpful.

If you’re using another autoresponder service then I have no idea how theirs is set up or if you even can insert your own graphics.  I would think you could with how sophisticated all these programs are now.  Just go to their support and ask them if you can’t find a video on YouTube.

So have you ever made your own opt-in boxes using graphics you created?  Have you wanted to and think this video might be helpful?  You’ll have to let me know what you think now.

Please be sure to share this with your friends.  Hopefully this is what they’ve been wanting to know too and you’ll be their savior for pointing them in the right direction.  Don’t ya just love that!

Now have some fun with this and let me know if you create some.  I want to check them out.

Hi Adrienne,

Wow! Another informative video :)

I can surely see that you are LOVING creating images from your new program and thanks so much for sharing all the information with us as well. Honestly speaking, I have never tried these opt-in boxes so far, or perhaps the requirement hasn’t been there as yet as I have nothing to sell or offer presently to my readers or subscribers.

I was using Aweber long back, but it wasn’t my cup of tea when I could use a free service that I use presently. Once again, it works well when you are more into email marketing or have something to offer, which presently I don’t. So, inserting any kind of graphic isn’t something I have tried so far, but after reading your post, I’d surely give it a try to see if it can be worked on the one I use.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Have a nice week ahead :)

Hey Harleena,

I hope so, thanks!

Some people aren’t in need of building a list because like you, you aren’t here to build a business. For that reason I wouldn’t spend the money on an autoresponder program either. I do see though that you do have a newsletter so you are building a list. I’m sure you’re taking care of them although you aren’t offering them anything in the way of making any income from them.

I know nothing about the free programs so you’re definitely on your own there but I would be curious to know if they have that capability. I’m sure that would be very enticing for most.

You are very welcome even though this isn’t your cup of tea! I appreciate your comment anyway Harleena and you enjoy what’s left of this week.

Hi Adrienne, I don’t use Aweber, though I have noticed your excellent images on the sidebar of your blog. Well done! I like how you used Canva to create those.

I have created opt-in images on my sidebar, though looking at yours, I think I might update mine to be a bit more creative. I made one for my readers to subscribe to The Wonder of Tech on their Kindles, and to check out The Wonder of Tech on philly.com (some articles are still on The Philadelphia Inquirer website).

I create the images, then use the Image Widget plugin. That one really is easy!

Thanks so much for the inspiration and video, Adrienne!

Hi Carolyn,

Well I know that you also aren’t building a list for business so I wouldn’t spend the money either. Just another unnecessary expense I believe but I do love Aweber.

You created your own images? That’s pretty cool Carolyn and I’ll probably be doing a few more, not sure how well I really like these but I had to do something different with my blog so for now I am happy with them. I think the images just add something to it.

I appreciate your comment though and hope you’ll pass my post around for those who are using Aweber and would like to know how this is done.

Enjoy the rest of your week and thanks again.

Hi Adrienne,

How funny! I have made a step by step video just like that a couple years ago, but I should update it and maybe post it on SlideShare or something like that.

I do this with all my opt-in forms. Once you know the trick it’s really easy and cool :)

Thanks for sharing this.

Hey Sylviane,

I never shot a video before showing people how to do this so with a few asking me this time around I thought I would take care of that quickly. Glad you already know how to do this as well. I do know you’ve been making your graphics too! Bravo girl.

You are right, once you know how then you can honestly say it’s easy. For those that don’t have a clue though, not so much. Well they will now! ;-)

Thanks Sylviane and you have a wonderful day.

But, I have another question.

Whenever I ask you a question on your blog posts, you always reply back. Even if I have several questions.

However, whenever you make a comment on my blog, and I ask you a question, you never reply back.

I’m curious as to why?

It could be that you don’t the option set up on your blog to let people know when you responded to them. There is a plugin called reply me that does that

The ReplyMe plugin is very old and hasn’t been supported in years Faigie! The developer just abandoned it although it is the best one out there. There are several others though and Susan Neal wrote about them last year.

Oh good, yay!!!

I’ll tell you why…because I don’t know that you did. You get an email from me letting you know that I responded and I include your comment right! I don’t get anything from you. Do you know how many blogs I comment on? There is no way I can revisit them all just to see if you might ask me a question. You need to put something in place to notify your commenters of what they said and that you replied. It’s not that I’m ignoring you, I just don’t know.

Hi Adrienne,

I hear that a lot of marketers are leaving Aweber because of the problems they have been having. I don’t know if your email was delayed this morning but my scheduled ones were. I’ve been with Aweber for a long time too and am not keen to move. These things can happen to any company.

How to insert an image into an optin form is one of the things I do know how to do for a change but I’m sure many of your readers will find it useful. I should probably update the opt in form I have on my blog with an image of my own.

BTW, did you know that your text link to “the coolest image program” goes to a page not found?

Enjoy your weekend when you finally get there!

Hi Sandy,

Yep, mine was delayed alright and didn’t go out for an hour and a half. You know though Sandy, every program is going to have issues they aren’t perfect. I know they had issues recently with that brute force attack but I’m not leaving them because people are trying to hurt their program. Things happen… Now if it continues to persist and becomes more frequent then I might have to reconsider but for now I’m going to stick with them. Sounds like you feel the same way.

I’m so happy to hear that you already know how to do this. So far a few of my readers who have comment aren’t even using Aweber but that’s okay. As I mentioned in my last post, I spent the entire day updating my blog and that included all my graphics for my opt-in boxes. They need a change from time to time.

No I did not and it worked yesterday darn it. Thank you Sandy, I’ll check that out. It’s always something isn’t it! ;-)

Thank you and you do the same. I appreciate your comment too.

Hi Kumar,

I’ve still got a few more things to do but I just ran out of time. I spent an entire day last weekend working on all of this, updating some of my pages, adding a few more and freshening things up a bit. Test, test, test, right! ;-)

You are right Kumar, so many people invest in things but either don’t do the work once they’ve gone through it or they never go through it at all. I didn’t spend this kind of money to sit on my hands. I am learning from one of the best and I’m sucking up everything she suggests and then I have to test it myself to see if it will work for me. It’s all very logical but until someone explains why you should be doing it and why it works so well then we aren’t really sure. You know I do love to learn and share that with my readers so I’m definitely on the right tract.

Thank you so much for saying that, it really means a lot. To have you notice that I’m doing some things and hopefully all for the better and then I’ll let my readers know what I’ve done and why. I want to do some testing first! ;-)

I hope my video will help for those that want to learn this. It is easy once you know how right! Thank you for your awesome comment Kumar, it’s greatly appreciated.

Enjoy your day.

Now you have taken it to the next level to show us how to create images in an opt-in! Girl you are having some fun with this aren’t you?

Hey Donna,

Taking Marie’s course I knew I was going to update my opt-ins graphics. Until I dove into what all they suggested I ended up creating about five or six new ones. Using Canva just really got me so excited because I knew I could create some different ones that I wanted so that one was really fun. Before I was still using PowerPoint to create my graphics and they didn’t look as good I think. Once I shared this then I started getting the questions on how I set up opt-in box up with my own graphic. We often times forget what all we know so I was eager to help them by sharing that too! Yeah, you could say I’m a little excited to help my readers out! ;-)

Thank you Donna for your comment and I hope those that are eager to learn this will find it easy now!

You have a great day and a fun weekend okay!

It lagged some? I was in there late yesterday and I didn’t have any issues at all. I created me probably four more images and I just love that program now. They probably had a lot of people using it at that time. You know, everyone falling in love with that program now!

Hey, have fun with this girl and I can’t wait to see what you come up with. I know it will be amazing. I’m still trying to get the darn opt-in box for my posts figured out. Yep, that one is slowly coming but thanks for that recommendation. ;-)

Videos are helpful and I remember the last one you shot about finding just about how many of one’s readers were actually using mobile devices to access content. This is no exception as it proves handy – though I don’t use Aweber.

I remember the video about the mobile users and in my last post I shared with everyone the graphics program I was introduced to where I created my most recent graphics. That was just fun.

Thank you, I appreciate that and all made by little old me. I might not be a pro but they definitely are my own! ;-)

Hi Adrienne

Hey I learned something new….well actually 2 things. I have messed around with different sign-up forms in Aweber so that part I understand. But missed the part about image and maybe I shall have to think about doing that. Also, I did not know that “raw html” was better to use.

There is so many things as long as we being doing this, that we still don’t know. As long as we keep learning we stay young. LOL

Hi Mary,

Oh yeah, two things and I’m loving that my friend. Yeah, you can put your own images in your opt-in box although you don’t have a lot of leeway to make it look how you want. You can change the background color and stuff too so play around with it more if you want.

I was told that last year when I was having issues with my database and my blog loading slower. That’s when I was told to go with the raw HTML coding instead that it helped with load time. Hey, I’m just going by what I was told and you definitely know that’s not my area of expertise! LOL!!!

You are so right, there is just so much information out there that we don’t know about and more things that come along as we continue. When I learn though I’ll continue to share.

Thank you Mary and I appreciate your comment.

Surely they do.

I know that when you work with the header as your wording that it doesn’t always go as planned so I just stopped even messing with it and I just included my wording with my image. They have better fonts anyway and I can set it up exactly how I want.

I say give that one a try and see if that works better. PicMonkey is another good program and probably just fine for this. I didn’t know you could upload your own images, I haven’t played around will all areas in that program.

Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. The thing with a free service is from what I know about MailChimp is you can’t set your autoresponders up to go out at certain times. What’s up with that! That’s why you have them in the first place as well as capturing your leads. But if you’re not promoting anything and you just want to email them about your latest post then I wouldn’t spend the money either. Aweber just has a lot of really cool features and this is one of them.

Glad you like my graphics and they were all done in Canva. I’m really loving that program too and hope to make a few more.

it is really cool that you are doing such videos to help your readers.
I need to do more of these myself. Sometimes a video is worth a blog post! Only problem is you lose the SEO with no words :>
As I am using leadpages, I have some cool pages and optin boxes to choose from too. But I know most people don’t want to pay for that. It is really for serious business owners, not small bloggers and people with one optin form. But I am loving it :>
I am going to do some more videos soon, but the next week looks packed, as I am also doing some volunteering later in the week.
thanks for the great work!

Hey Ashley,

I’ve GOT to help my readers now Ashley, they are the reason I blog in the first place. Sure, not everyone will comment on this type of post because it doesn’t relate to them but that’s okay. It’s helping the people who need it the most so it’s a win/win for me and them. ;-)

Yeah, I don’t like the money they charge with the lead pages program. To me they’ll just continue to go up on the price over time and you’re really stuck having to continue to use them because you’re tied into a monthly fee. Next thing you know all your links will be broke and then you’re really in a mess if you decide to quit using them. I don’t like going with those types of programs myself. There are others out there for a set fee that I’ll plop the money down for because I’m in control and then I can create my own. I like to look ahead and not at just right now.

I’m sure there are some of your readers that probably want to know how to do this too so these types of posts do come in very handy.

Sounds like you’re really busy this week, that sounds like this week for me. But it’s all good.

I appreciate that Ashley and thank you. You have a great weekend and don’t work too terribly hard next week. Hope you have some time to yourself.

Great video tutorial Adrienne as always.

It’s a very similar process adding an image to an opt-in form with GetResponse too so people can apply the same principles from your video.

I’ve been changing my opt-in forms and squeeze pages on my blog too over the past couple of weeks. It must be that time of year!

One thing you pointed out about using the raw html code I’d completely forgotten about.

I was using the javascript code because when you update your opt-in forms they update automatically on your blog.

However, the speed increase with using the raw html is significant, so I’ve changed them all over to that.

Thank you for the reminder :-).

Thank you Tim, I appreciate that.

I kind of thought it would be because several of my readers do have GetReponse so I advised them to either get with support or head on over to YouTube. Someone has probably done this as well and they’ll be easy6 to follow.

Actually, I’m going through B-School with Marie Forleo so last weekend I spend the entire day working on my blog and changing some things up that she suggested would benefit my blog. Along with that I just decided to change all my opt-in forms too. It was about time.

Ah, you are so welcome. Yep, that was pointed out to me last year so I make sure that I only have that code for all of mine now because we definitely don’t want that small thing helping to drag our blog down. Good that you changed that Tim.

My pleasure and enjoy your weekend. Thank you for your comment.

Hi Adrienne,

I can see you’re having a lot of fun with creating images and I like the idea of using it on our opt-in box.

I use Get Response and although they do have a lot of pre-designed forms but I would like something that’s all my own. I really like this idea…I thought I saw an option to use my own image when I set up my opt-in form. I’m going to have to check it out.

Thanks for sharing this idea with us! I hope you’ve had a great week! Can you believe it’s Friday already?

Hey Cori,

I’ve been creating my own images for my opt-ins for years now but this program is just making it so much easier for me. Yeah, you could say I’m having a lot of fun with this one.

Tim uses Get Response and he said that you can insert your own images as well so I figured that you could. Those two programs are a lot alike and I can’t image them not having that option. There are a lot of pre-designed opt-in boxes and for those who don’t create their own I’m sure they’re just fine. I think it helps to be different though.

You are very welcome and have fun with this.

I can’t believe Friday is already here, no. It’s been a good week and I’m looking forward to the weekend. Hope you are as well so take care and have fun.

Hey Babanature,

Thank you and glad to at least year you’ve been playing around in Canva. Pretty fun and cool program right!

Well I’m happy to hear that you’ll be focusing more on building your list in the near future so if you do decide to go with Aweber at least you now know how to create your own opt-in boxes. I’ll sure you’ll chose well.

Thank you, for some reason one moment the link is working and the next it’s not. Very odd indeed but for now it’s working.

You have a wonderful weekend too and thank you again.

Thanks for the hand-holding video that walks us through step by step. Having someone show you is 100 times better than having them tell you how to do it. Now it truly is “so simple” to do. Thanks for sharing the tips on how to accomplish this!

Hi Siddharth,

If you read my other post about how to build a rockin successful email list then you will understand why it’s imperative to use an autoresponder service in order to build your list. Aweber is the one I use although there are many more out there. The free ones I don’t believe give you the tools to create something like this, or so I’ve heard.

Enstine has already seen and commented on this post but thank you for sharing that and I hope when you’re ready to start building your list that you’ll consider signing up with Aweber.

Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Adrienne,

I love AWeber. I have used it for 1 year and at first, there is a learning curve to anything new. It didn’t take long to learn how to use it and I just love it! :)

Thanks so much for the training video, I love it!! It’ll be fun to play around with it, when I get the time, that is. :)

Hi Geri,

Glad to hear you’re another Aweber lover and are using it this way. I think you’ve got your own images in your opt-in box so this isn’t new to you. Glad you enjoyed the video though and hope you do have fun playing around with it.

Always good to see you Geri and thank you for your comment.

Just a note: You might notice that your comments never get approved automatically. That’s because when you leave your URL you’re leaving a link to a post and that’s not allowed here. Be sure to check out my commenting rules and I’m removing them each time. Would love for you to save me that trouble from this moment forward. Thanks!

Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Adrienne,

Thanks for the tip on how to add the picture on Aweber. I used your instructions for a difference reason. My opt-in widget has been up for awhile, but I was still working with the Facebook app. and had put a button on my Fan page for my Free Guide. By following your instructions, I was able to pull in my image and make it look the way I wanted, so thank you! Perfect timing.

Nice tricks Adrienne Smith, This is really a learning chapter for readers to learn “How To Insert An Image In An Aweber Opt-In Form” I learned it & now I can do it very easily in short time just because of this post.

Hey Monika,

Thank you for your comment and glad that you found it helpful. Yep, it’s pretty easy to do when you know what you’re doing so I hope that you’ll pass this along for others to see as well.

On another note, you are placing a link to a post when you include your URL in the comment section and that’s not allowed. I’m removing it each time so if you can’t put your blog link the next time you stop by I’ll have to remove them altogether. It’s clearly stated in my commenting rules.

Enjoy your week.

Adrienne,
That’s so cool. Thank you so much for sharing. I watched your canva video too. It looks like I can create all types of banners. I’m wondering if I can use this to create a banner for 1 Shopping Cart. I’m going to mess with that. This is going to save me a lot of time and money for sure. You’re the best. Thank you. MUAH! Lisa

Hey Lisa,

Canva is what I used to create my images in my opt-in boxes so if One Shopping Cart will let you insert your own then absolutely. That’s how you can definitely stand out from the rest.

Glad you found this one helpful too and can’t wait to see what you do. Rock on my friend.

Wonderful video, and every thing is explained in easiest manner. I guess I’m gonna soon signup for aweber. Though I have used it last year but never renewed it.

Thanks

Hey Samir,

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and found it easy to follow. Hope you’ll come on back over to Aweber but only if you feel it’s the program for you. Glad you already had an account with at one time so you are familiar with them at least.

Appreciate the comment and please do enjoy your week.

Hi Adrienne,

Great video. It’s such a long time since I had done an opt in with an image that was a brilliant refresher. Thanks for that. The problem I have is pop ins. I have deleted them on Aweber and deleted whatever on my blog and they’re still there….lol. I gave up, will just let them pop up, down or whatever way for the immediate future..lol. Great post again.

Still got two other emails to check out. Hope you had a nice Easter. I was working all weekend.

Regards

Hi Donald,

Glad you liked the video and it’s a good refresher one for sure. That’s really weird about your pop ups. I’m sure there is some simple explanation for why they’re still there. Some code that didn’t get deleted somewhere. I’m sure if you have some blogging friends they can take a look at that for you. That would drive me nuts and I would Google it until I got that baby resolved. I’m just weird that way. Good luck with that though.

Thank you for stopping by and glad you enjoy your Easter although you were working all weekend too! Have a good week Donald and thanks again.
