How many times have we heard that “Rome wasn’t built in a day” or “you’ll never strike it rich overnight (unless you win the lottery of course)”. We only wish winning the lottery would happen to us right! Boy, wouldn’t that be a killer post.
Sorry, got a little distracted with that line of thinking. Oops..
We KNOW things take time so why do we fight with this so much?
I’ll tell you why!
Because we’ve become an instant gratification society. Everyone wants what they want and they wanted it yesterday.
That’s not how life works so the sooner you realize that the better.
Defining Your Goals Online
We aren’t all here for the same reasons but you know what I teach the most here on my blog. I’m all about building relationships with my readers and people I meet online.
I’ve been told by some that it’s a waste of time but the funny thing is those same people will ask me how I continue to get so many comments on my post along with the interaction.
They hate it when I tell them that I just take the time to get to know my readers and I treat them like my friends.
Oh sure, I can elaborate more but then I’d have to kill you. Come on, I’m just kidding…it’s all in my free report which most of you have already so I’m not harboring any deep dark secrets. If you don’t have it then opt-in after you finish reading this post.
I’m sure you’ve all read my free report and agreed with me that it really is that easy to do. It’s just that some people don’t want to.
So What’s Never A Waste Of Time
I wasn’t taught to make connections with people, that’s just who I am. I was taught actually the opposite and that’s just to get people to my content, make it good enough that they want what I have and then sell them on what I’m promoting. That’s what I use to do and up to three years ago it worked beautifully.
Problem is I got really bored with it so I went looking for more answers.
I found them in the course I speak about so often but once again, even in that course, I was taught to comment on other blogs to get traffic to mine.
Being the type of person I am I just decided to be an open book and lay everything out on the table about what I was doing and why. Do you know that people actually related to me? That’s because they saw themselves in me. Heck, I thought I was alone to be honest with you.
So one day I had a really nice lady comment on my blog and then she had another question so she emailed me.
I answered her question and helped her out. Over time she’d come back and ask more questions and we soon learned that we’d both been part of that same course.
Had I been of the mindset that we’re doing the same thing and she’s definitely not going to want what I have to offer nor will I want what she has to offer I could have gone on my way never to correspond with her again.
I could have but I didn’t.
Almost Two Years Later
This nice lady that I’m speaking of is Dee Ann Rice and many of you know her from blogging. What a lot of you don’t know is that Dee Ann and I have become very good friends.
Last year we decided to have our own private mastermind group so we still meet on the phone weekly.
I help her and she helps me and do you know what else! We have bought things from each other because we trust each other explicitly. She uses certain products I need and I want her to make money from my purchase and she does the same thing with me. We’ll go to each other first before anyone else.
Dee Ann is the one building my product site because she built hers and knows how to get this set up.
Dee Ann is so darn smart I’m in awe of what this woman knows. She wrote a guest post for me at the end of last year so I’ve mentioned a lot about her as a person but if you aren’t that familiar with Dee Ann I do hope you’ll stop by her About Me page and get more acquainted.
This woman has so much on her plate yet she’s still created her own product, which she’ll be releasing soon and it’s a must have, she still blogs although she’s not able to be as consistent as she’d like and still building an online business.
It’s NEVER A Waste Of Time
Building relationships with people you meet online is never a waste of time. Had I not taken the time to get to know Dee Ann I wouldn’t have the friendship that I have with her today. I think extremely highly of her not only as a person but as a blogger, a marketer and a good friend.
She may be small in stature, have a quiet voice but this woman is a powerhouse and she knows a LOT! I’m honored to call her my friend and my blogging buddy.
It’s never a waste of time to build relationships with people you meet online. You never know how you might be able to help each other down the road.
Dee Ann has helped me in certain areas just like Ashvini has helped me in others. She’s my rock, she’s my accountability partner and she’s my friend.
Do you think building relationships with people you meet online is a waste of time? Do you judge them by what they can do for you? Have you had a similar experience? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
I want to go ahead and thank you for sharing this post with your friends because I think this is an important topic that I sure hope others will grasp. People come into our lives for a reason so pay attention the next time and never dismiss it so quickly.
You never know what the future will hold.
