Are You Fans Of Reality TV?

March 5, 2012 | By Adrienne Smith

Are You Fans Of Reality TV?Surprise!  Different kind of post I’m writing today wouldn’t you agree?  You are probably shaking your head saying to yourself, what the heck does this have to do with building a business online?  Actually it has nothing to do with that but I hope you’ll stick around anyway.

Remember last July when I supported Christian Hollingsworth because I wanted him to win the Small Business Influencer Award?  Then one month later Carolyn Nicander Mohr was nominated for the Most Valuable Philadelphia Blogger Nominee of 2011 title.  I wrote those blogs posts because they had become my friends and I really wanted to support them.  Well, this is another one of those posts.

Now there’s no contest going on so I’m not going to ask you to vote but I’ll share with you here in just a minute what this is all about.  You’re curious now aren’t you, admit it!

You may be surprised but I really am a fan of reality TV although I’m not an addict.  I actually know one of the winners of one of the very shows I happen to watch.  Want to guess which one?

Reality Show Addicts

Now that I’ve come out of the box and admitted to liking reality TV you can too..  We all have a little something we may be hiding or just haven’t shared with everyone else yet.  Look at it this way, it just never came up!

Since we’re all here to build a business, TV probably isn’t your top priority.  Every single top income earner you meet will tell you to buckle down and let go of all the luxuries.  Yeah, okay – I’ll get right on that.  Hey, I watch a few shows really late at night to wind down from my long day.  I deserve that time.

I watch five reality TV shows and they are So You Think You Can Dance, The Biggest Loser, American Idol, Survivor and Big Brother.  I was roped into watching them by family and friends so once I saw a couple of episodes I admit, I was hooked.

Do You Want To Be On Reality TV?

Have you ever wanted to be on one of these shows?  I thought about it for about a millisecond but that was it.  Oh, my best friend seems to think I’d run away with the prize on either Big Brother or Survivor because of my personality.  Are you kidding me?  They would kill me in the competitions plus on Survivor I couldn’t take a shower for 39 days and I hate being cold.  No way in hell!

You might be one of the braver ones who has always wanted to do something like this or you might have a relative or friend who you think would kill it on one of these shows.  Heck, I think my nephew would have a great chance of winning some of these…I know, I’m prejudice.   Maybe you’ve even sent in some audition tapes hoping to land your spot on one of these.  Well, I’ve got just the thing for you.

Drum Roll Please

So have you guessed which reality TV winner this is about?  Okay, I’ll tell ya.

I’d like to introduce to you Dan Gheesling, the Catholic School Teacher from Dearborn, Michigan who walked away with a 7-0 vote on Big Brother, Season 10.

I had the pleasure of meeting him through Triberr and we are now in a mastermind group together.  I told him that I’d had a wild hair and would like to support what he’s doing by writing a post.  To say the least, he’s very appreciative of all the support that he can get.

How To Get On Reality TV

Since Dan was the winner of Big Brother Season 10 he obviously knows some behind the scenes things about getting on a reality TV show.  When he shared his story with us we were all very surprised. I admit to being clueless about these types of things.  Why would I know what’s involved.  It actually took him years to get on the show but the end result is that he won the darn thing.  Oh yeah, we’re talking a half a million dollars guys.

Dan has created a product to help those people who are eager to get on a reality TV show.  Obviously there is a lot involved that most people would have no clue about and Dan is still in touch with not only people in that industry but a few past winners of a few other reality shows as well.

If you have the slightest interest in doing something like this or if you know someone who does, please be sure and check out Dan’s site.  If you opt-in to his list, he’s going to share his story with you.  We, our mastermind group, convinced him to just spill the beans and let it all out so you’ll get some inside scoop on everything he went through up to that point.

His product consists of:

  • how to create an unforgettable audition video
  • how to complete an epic application
  • a unique interview strategy
  • some behind the scenes secrets
  • and much more…

I mean really, wouldn’t it be cool if you had the inside scoop so you’d have a leg up on the competition!  Ah, if I were 30 years younger I might just have to give you guys a run for your money. Oh yeah!  I mean how cool would that be!

Just click on the image below and you’ll be taken over to Dan’s site.  The product is live and waiting your arrival.

Okay, I know this post was so way off topic it’s not even funny but I just had to help Dan out.  I mean wouldn’t you?

So is anyone interested?  Even a little bit curious?  Have you ever even considered the possibility of auditioning for any type of TV show?  Are you a Reality TV junkie or at least enjoy a few?  Come on, you can tell me.

Did I tell you guys that I was in a movie here locally a little over a year ago.  It still hasn’t been released but it was a really cool experience.  I wanted to do something totally outside my comfort zone so what better way then be in a movie.  It was a lot of fun so now I can say I’ve been in a movie, have you?

Can’t wait to hear your comments!  I’ll be seeing you soon.

Needless to say, I ADORE Dan! And I actually think his pursuit here is obliquely related to your blog Adrienne. After all, Dan is engaging his audience with meaningful information; he is using blogging as a way to build his business; he is providing value to his readers. I’ve read both of his books, and there is so much MORE there than just a guide to get on reality tv. Dan really demonstrates the value of ‘staying power’; the importance of sticking to your goals and seeing them through. He is an inspiration.

I think you should try to get on Big Brother Adrienne. You would be a FABULOUS (and well love) house guest! You would have my vote :-) . Great post!

You and me both Ruth and I admire him for everything he went through. The lesson I got from Dan’s experience is some of what we all face here online. You will get a LOT of rejection when talking to people and just like in my post “Why You Should Go For No” is that some people will tell you no, but it’s just not right now. That doesn’t mean it’s no for good. Dan didn’t take no for an answer and kept plugging away. And look what he accomplished.

There is a lesson to be learned from all our experiences.

Besides the competitions Ruth, there’s no way you’re catch me in a bathing suit on national television. I’m so way past all of that! ;-) But if I were younger I would have to give them a run for my money! Oh yeah! Now you! You’d kill it girl. Your kids would miss you to death but you’d take it away.

Thanks Ruth, appreciate your comment on this one and we both are big Dan supporters! :-)

Adrienne, would you believe me if I told you I don’t have cable, don’t get good free reception and therefore don’t watch any reality TV, ever?

With working full time, blogging, my position on the Board of Directors for an HR professional association, and the rest of the good stuff in life I have precious little time for television. I used to be a TV junkie and I’m a little surprised I don’t miss it! (Don’t be fooled, I catch up on my favorite shows on weekends on Hulu!)

I wish Dan luck on his business endeavor- it’s a great idea! And any friend of yours is no doubt a very special individual. :)

Have a grateful day!

Wow Chrysta, you sound like my friend that lives out in the country and they get horrible reception and still have dial up internet access. I’m not really surprised. When I wrote my post relating to the lessons I’d learned from the Biggest Loser I learned of a lot of people who aren’t big on TV. It’s my escape time but I don’t sit here all day everyday just watching TV. I might not watch it all week, it just depends.

I do know a lot of people are watching it online now so you can still catch some shows every here and there so good to know you aren’t completely in the dark but I understand with so much going on in your life why that would definitely not be a priority. I’m guilty, I confess though.

Thank you Chrysta and if you know anyone who would be eager to accomplish what Dan did, you now know where to send them.

Have a grateful day as well young lady! Always a pleasure to hear from you.

Thanks so much for sharing this with your audience! I’m glad we have connected through the MasterMind to say the least!

Hey Dan,

Ah, my pleasure to share with my readers my own hidden addiction. Oh sure, I know it’s not one everyone can relate to but I know there are some closet reality TV fans out there. I’m sure we have a few that would like to have their shot at there 3 months of fame. ;-)

So glad we connected through the MasterMind as well so I appreciate your invitation. We’ve got a great group for sure.

You have a great week Dan and I’ll see you tonight!

Hi Adrienne
I have to agree with Ruth, this post is more related than you realise.
I am not really in to reality TV, but do watch Dragon’s den and Masterchef. Guess that makes me in to reality TV then!

Hi Dee,

Ah thanks for that Dee, I appreciate it. I heard myself thinking about the rejection factor the more I thought about it.

See, when I think of reality TV I was thinking of stuff like the Fear Factor and that one where they knock you off of stuff. The Big Race and things like that but there are so many different ones out there and the cooking shows are too. So even though I don’t think we’re heavy into them Dee, we do watch and we do enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing this with me. Hope you have a great week.

Hi Adrienne,

I can’t say that I am a fan of reality TV, but I have watched some here and there. I feel very much out of the loop because I know none of your favorite 3, except by name :) As crazy as this may seem for some people, I have never watch an episode of American Idol except for some clips and mostly on YouTube.

However, I am very much interested in meeting people, and OMG in mastermind groups! So, yes, I will check Dan Gheesling out. On top of it, what he is teaching in his product is really not far from internet marketing after all.

Thanks for this, Adrienne, and have a great day :)

Hi Sylviane,

That’s not crazy at all Sylviane because if my friends hadn’t roped me into watching them when I did, I probably wouldn’t be watching them today. I have limited time for TV these days but like I did mention, I watch everything late at time or on weekends. I tape everything because I hate having to be someplace at a certain time and I hate commercials. But I’ve really come to like some of these because it is reality TV and watching these people go through certain things.

The MasterMind group has been wonderful and Dan actually put it together. He’s a coach and a teacher so he’s the perfect person for putting us in our place and making sure we follow through. Plus, we’re able to give each other suggestions and help with whatever project we are currently doing. They’ve been such a huge help to me.

I appreciate your comment Sylviane and hope you enjoy your week.

Hi Adrienne,

What a great idea! It goes to show that you can take anything you know and teach others how to do it. Although I am not a A Reality Show fan, (not much of a TV person) I can see how others would love what Dan has to offer.

Good luck Dan! You site really is great.

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen you. Hope all is going well with you and I appreciate you stopping by today.

You are right, take the simplest things and teach others and they will become better because of it as well.

Dan’s books are fabulous and really share everything he went through so you are definitely learning from someone with experience now.

Thanks Sheila and hope you have a wonderful day!

Hi Adrienne, Thank you again for all of your support of me and The Wonder of Tech. Anyone who is a friend of yours is truly blessed.

I, too, am a reality TV fan and think you’d be great on Big Brother! I think the slop would be the most difficult part of that show. I’m with you on Survivor. I like my creature comforts!

Congratulations to Dan on winning Big Brother. Very cool! I just sent a link to his blog to a friend of mine who would love to be on the show.

By the way, did you hear that Christian is going to be on X Factor? He got an email from Simon Cowell last night! Looks like we’ll be gearing up to support him again. Go Christian!!!!

Hi Carolyn,

It was an honor helping you out and getting your name out there young lady. Even though you didn’t win, a lot of good came from it.

Well I’ll be, you are a reality TV fan too. The slop would be horrible along with taking cold showers. It’s bad enough on Survivor that you can’t shower at all and sit there in the cold while you get rained on is not what I would want to go through to win a million dollars. I’d do Big Brother way before Survivor any day.

Oh good, you have a friend who would like to be on reality TV. I sure hope they find this useful, I certainly think they’ll get a leg up on the competition having learned it from someone who has not only been there but walked away with the title. Now that’s pretty cool.

I did hear and I’m so excited for him. I was about to come out of my chair when I read his post this morning. I’m so excited for him and they are going to be blown away Carolyn. I knew we had a star in him and I’m so excited and will definitely have to watch it this time. I’ve never seen that show but there’s a first time for everything.

Thanks again and have a wonderful week.

This was such a fun post Adrienne. I just read a post on Benny’s blog that mentioned Dan as well. I never really thought about the process of getting on a reality show but now that i think about it… the process sounds like it’s just like starting a business. Setting goals, building a system, trying, failing, trying again and failing and tweaking until you get the right mix.

I think it’s genius how he is making an online course and made a guide to help people do the same thing.
AND WHAT!!!! Christian is going to be on X-factor. I didn’t read that on his Blog. Christian Hollingsworth?

Thank you Annie, so glad you think so. Kind of off topic but Dan has become a good friend since meeting him last year and I was star struck when I learned he was on my tribe. We started chatting and we became friends instantly. He’s really a great guy and just like all the rest of us. I love that he’s helping people who really would like to accomplish the same thing as he did. His course is fabulous, he did a superb job.

Yes, our Christian Hollingsworth is going to be on the X-Factor next month. He posted it on Facebook this morning so I’m sure he’ll get around to writing a post about it now. They are going to be blown away with his voice Annie. I’m so proud of him and so excited. I’m sure he’s beside himself with excitement now. Heck I sure am. I’ve never watched that show but I will now. Yey Christian…

Hi Adrienne,

I am a fan of Reality TV too! I watch Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Top Chef. I gave up on the Real Housewives. They are extremely irritating! Although I love watching those shows, I would never want to be on one. I like bathing, sleeping in a bed, and eating food that I’m pretty much familiar with!! So I will continue to enjoy others on those shows, not me!

Hi Jamella,

Ah girl, I knew there were more like me out there. I’ve never watched the Amazing Race or Top Chef. My best friend who got me hooked on Big Brother loves the Real Housewives and I tried watching it but those ladies annoy the hell out of me. Always bickering and catty! I couldn’t stand it myself.

I’m with you, I don’t want the money that bad. Well okay, not at my age now… I’m way too set in my ways but Dan was and still is in his 20′s so I can see where it would be enticing at that age. That’s why I say if I was 30 years younger I may not care about the bathing and sleeping as much to win that kind of money but I’m so past that now. lol… But my nephew would be fabulous on that show and he’s only 23. He’s such the little actor!

For now, we’ll just watch right!

Thanks Jamella and for sharing your hidden entertainment factors with me. Now, enjoy your week!

No movies, but I’ve been in a place where a movie was filmed; they filmed parts of Edward Scissorhands in Lakeland. I was on TV as a child with a local show; I got to see myself on TV so that was pretty cool.

Your story is pretty cool and the way you Triberred up w/ Dan. I could use $500,000 BTW….

Well, I think I’m back in the saddle; I know I feel a heck of a lot better today. Thanks for sharing this, and you can mix it up anytime.

Well that’s pretty cool Bill and Edward Scissorhands was a pretty unique movie I must add.

You were on TV when you were a kid! Too bad they didn’t have VCR’s back then, that would have been something to watch over and over again.

Small world isn’t it Bill! Benny Hsu invited Dan and when I saw his name I knew I recognized it so you know I had to head over to Google. Low and behold, there he was and I watched his season of course so I remembered him. We started chatting and apparently not a lot of people appreciate what he did or like may be a better word. Heck, at 24 years old I’d do it too. What an experience right and of course there is that $500K prize. Oh yeah, sweet!

I’m so glad you are feeling better Bill. What a week right! I had one of those too I’m afraid but for a totally different reason. Hoping this week will be much better for us both.

Hi Adrienne,

I knew you said this post was different and now I know why :)

For me I only watch 3 reality tv shows:

I’m a celebrity get me out of here (has to watched, every minute of it. Has me laughing like you wouldn’t believe.)

X Factor auditions, not so keen on the live shows but the auditions have me laughing again.

Gorden Ramsey’s Hell’s kitchen, love it. I like seeing them all do well but do enjoy seeing him lose it when they don’t, then all the back biting

Would I like to appear on any of them? Not on your Nelly Adrienne. They’re ok for those that do, but not for me I’m afraid.

I did once watch an episode of celebrity big brother and parts were funny but again it’s not for me.

Fair play to anyone that wants to take part, I think they’re brave to go on them but like I said, NOT FOR ME Thank You :)

Thanks Adrienne,

Respect and Regards,
Barry

Hey Barry,

Surprise! ;-)

Guess who is going to be on the X-Factor next month Barry? Our fabulous Christian Hollingsworth. He got a letter from Simon Cowell himself and he’ll be auditioning in San Francisco. I’m so darn excited for him so I’ll definitely be watching the auditions. I’ve never seen the show but I will for Christian. I feel a post coming because I know he’ll make the cut. So get your voting fingers ready!

I’ve seen a few commercials for Hell’s Kitchen and Gordon is just pure evil. He’s so mean to those people but of course, I’ve never watched the show so I’m only seeing the part they are sharing with us.

Celebrity Big Brother was okay, it was those who had won and were already on. The reason I was drawn to it is to watch how they interact with people they’ve never met. I mean these people have watched the show so they should know better then to jump right in and start pissing people off. Hello!!! I find it humorous and entertaining.

Thanks for being a good sport Barry and reading my post.

Now, no more injuries okay! We want you all in one piece.. :-)

WOW Christian’s going to be on X Factor, good for him :)

I was on his blog a while back when he posted some of his music on there. He had me clicking my fingers and humming along with him, he’s very good. Mind you he is a man of many talents what with writing his novel as well.

I’ve no idea when the US X Factor is one over here Adrienne but I’ll keep an eye out for it. If you know when he comes up on it please let me know and I’ll see if it is being shown over here (other wise I could be watching it forever and find I’m watching re-runs of the last series, that’s UK TV for you :) )

I’ve been checking my ankle all day, it’s getting quite large. I think I should’ve paid a visit to the spinal physiotherapy department as well as A&E today. Early night and rest it up then see what it’s like in the morning.

Thanks Adrienne :D

Oh yes… Is that not the coolest thing? I told him that all he has to do is send out some tweets, have some people like me write a post and he’ll win the darn thing. Oh heck, he’s just so talented.

He sent me some of his tunes before he started releasing them for everyone and I tell you I’ve played them over and over and over again. He’s got such a beautiful voice.

He will be heading to auditions in April so I’ll have to pay attention to when it’s on but you know he’ll keep us posted. When I know, I’ll let you know and even if I have to tape it and send it to you we’ll get him one way or the other so you can watch it.

Oh my, that doesn’t sound good Barry. I’m sure you’ve been keeping it elevated. I hope you won’t be making another trip tomorrow and it just had to go up before going back down. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Barry!

Hey Adrienne,

This is really cool what Dan’s doing and I think it’s super cool of you to help him out!

I will admit that I don’t really spend much time watching TV. Life keeps me so busy and by the time I generally feel like popping on “the tube” most of the reality TV stuff has all ready finished. The exception to this rule for me is, of course, The Real Housewives of Atlanta. lol It just so happens to work nicely into my Sunday. :)

Oh and another thing, Adrienne…I think you would give anyone a run for their money TODAY! Girl, you got it going on and you ARE a survivor! If you get on a reality TV show I will absolutely make sure to watch it on time every week! lol

I’d love to see your movie, by the way!

I have had some exposure to the media, but in other capacities. I used to do some acting for film when I lived in Austin. I have done some professional voice-over and have been featured in a regional commercial. I took a little detour from all that but it was a fun experience and I really enjoyed it! ;)

Hey Cat,

Dan’s the man and I love that he’s stepped up and created this product. I know there are a lot of people out there who would like this opportunity and he’s got the inside scoop of how to do it right the first time around and not waste all that time like he did. I just really admire what he went through so now knowing him a little better through the blogging world, I had to help!

I know what you mean Cat. Like I had stated, I’m only able to watch really late at night and we’re talking about 10:00 pm after everything else is finished. Some night I don’t watch at all but it relaxes me and I find it enjoyable. So you are a Real Housewives lover? I tried watching it but they bicker way too much for me. Couldn’t get into it really.

I might end up being the mother hen of the group, always making everyone feel better and trying to give them advice. They might take that for so long but when you fail at all the challenges, your time is limited. Maybe 30 years ago I would have definitely gone for it. I’m pretty happy with where I am today.

Once our movie FINALLY comes out I’ll be sure to let everyone know. Not sure if it will even make it to the big screen but I had the experience. It was really a lot of fun.

Wow, our little TV star here among us. The truth comes out. I don’t doubt it Cat, not in the least. I bet you had a lot of opportunities living in Austin. I think that’s really cool to have had those experiences. Thanks for sharing that with me. ;-)

Enjoy your day okay!

Well, cheers for Dan! I think his offering sounds great and am sure that his insight will prove to shave time and frustration out of the picture for folks!

I can’t say I like all the Housewives. I’m kind of into the Atlanta ladies, as noisy as as they are. Maybe it’s something about them being so different than me that I find to be interesting. I don’t relate to them, so it’s not about that. lol I guess you could call this a guilty pleasure, kind of like how I feel about my Spice Girls CD. (Oops, did I just say that out loud??) I think that if I were on the Real Housewives I’d probably be the boring one who tried to make everyone sit around a campfire singing kumbaya. ;)

Can’t wait to hear more about the movie developments, Adrienne!! That’s too cool!

And yeah, there were definitely good opportunities for me in Austin with film and media. I’m such a free spirit that I had to go chase after something that was “popping” for me…I think it was the right thing to do, as it served as a catalyst for me to make some important life-defining decisions. That’s a whole novel in itself, though. :) Maybe we can share more on that another time, my dear friend!

Bon apetit to enjoying the day!! 65 and Sunny here! I’m trying to wrap it up ASAP so I can go out and PLAY!! Hope you do the same!!

Ah, so the truth is out! You are so funny and you sound like my best friend. Actually, I think he loves the bickering and cat fights if you must know the truth.

We will definitely have to chat again soon and compare notes. I KNOW you have so many more life experiences to share along those lines then I do. But it’s still fun.

It’s 75 here and as soon as I finish answering these comments, Kayla and I are going for our afternoon walk. Yep, it’s that time and she’s ready.

Can’t wait to catch up with you some more. I know we have a lot of fun stories to exchange. Next time I’m out your way we’re going to meet up at Ruggles, my treat!

Nice change Adrienne!

Yes indeed, the moment I read the title of the post I did wonder as to what was I going to expect in today’s post! But it is a wonderful change :)

Who wouldn’t love relaality TV? Of course, if you watch too much of it, you do tend to get addicted, but just like you, I have one or two favorites at our end that mainly roll on the weekends. So, whenever I get a little time to wind up (that is if the kids let me!) I like to watch it too, though once you start watching it, gets really tough to move away- thus you do need those 3-4 hours at a stretch to sit right through, unless you follow it up the next day as well :)

Your best friend is indeed right by saying that you will run away with the prize, as your persoanlity will outshine everyone else’s :) Though it sure is something I would never want to try either :)

Nice of you to put up posts about friends you like and Dan is lucky as well that he was on reality TV and won, and that your’e writing a post about it! His site seems wonderful and engages people with lots of information, so does the product for all those who are really keen to participate!

And as for you, congratulations! So, when is your movie being released? Would love to see you in the movies- wow!!

Thanks for sharing a wonderful post, and hope you had a nice weekend as well :)

Thanks Harleena, just wanted to help another friend!

I bet you were thinking what in the world is this all about! lol…

That was what happened to me when I first started watching these Harleena. I watched an episode on the recommendation of a friend and some I was actually at their home so I had no choice. Once you watch an episode your curiosity is up and then I’m just stuck.

My personality might help me to an extent but then again, it could be a threat because they certainly don’t want you to go to the end and then everyone votes for you. They’ll usually vote for the one people like the most so you have to win the competitions to stay in the game. I’ve never been good at those.

Not sure when the movie will be released, he’s now looking at next year. First it was suppose to be last summer and then the end of October. The director is doing this pretty much by himself plus he works a day job with little time to spare now that filming is over. He’s looking at sometime in 2013 now. It was fun and you can see me for like a half second. lol… One of my scenes got cut because he had to take it in a different direction closing to the end of filming. I guess that’s showbiz.

Thanks Harleena and hope you enjoy your week. I appreciate your support! :-)

Yes, you do tend to really get glued to the television sets once you start off with one of these episodes!

Whenever the movie is released- would be wonderful to see even a glimpse of you in it- so that we can say we have a friend who came in a movie! Am sure you would look wonderful :)

My support is always there:) Wishing you the best as well!

Thanks Harleena and I’ll probably not be able to help myself with sharing the news that the movie finally came out. It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea but still, I think it’s just cool. I’ll be sure to let everyone know when and if that time ever arises.

I appreciate you Harleena.

Adrienne,

It’s great to see Dan launch his product. I remember chatting with him a while back (based on your invitation) and was thrilled to see this kind of product being launched.

It goes to show that you can truly create something from your passion and expertise!

As far as the reality shows go…I do not have a favorite, that I record anyway. I have been known to stumble over a couple that I’ll watch if I happen to be on the tube at that time, Like Storage Wars. Although my family does watch Biggest Loser, The Voice and American Idol. I’ll join in on a few of those sometimes. At least there is a healthy purpose on these.

But what simply amazes me is just when I think they have exhausted all the possible types of shows there are 5 more that pop up. I do get a kick out seeing some of the new redneck shows popping up. I don’t watch them but the commercials crack me up.

OMG…am I turning into a reality show freak?

Hi Ken,

Indeed Ken, we’re so excited for him and I hope it will be a big hit. I appreciate you taking the time to chat with him, it was very helpful.

I agree, you can definitely take your passion and make it into a product that others will find helpful as well. I know that reality TV is big right now so I can’t see this as not being well received.

I love the Biggest Loser although I’m having a hard time with this season. I have no favorites and broke into tears when Chism had to leave the game. I’m not really connecting with anyone this year. Sad! I’ve never watch Storage Wars and The Voice. I’ve been tempted to watch The Voice but didn’t want to get into another one. I got started late with American Idol, I haven’t been watching it from the beginning. Sometimes I enjoy it while other times I don’t. I just realized I left off a big one that I love which is “So You Think You Can Dance”. My goodness, where is my head.

Who would have ever thought that people enjoy watching real people on TV go through certain things. I never would have but some of them got me hooked.

If we don’t watch it Ken, we’ll both turn into Reality TV junkies. Oh no!!!

Hi Adrienne,

I personally do not like those types of shows and would have no desire to ever be on one.

That’s pretty neat that this guy is making a product about his experience. I think it will go over extremely well as there surely is a market for it. Best of luck to you, Dan!

They aren’t for everyone, I do agree but I enjoy some of them.

I think so too, I think Dan will be able to help a lot of people actually! Thanks for commenting anyway even though it’s not your cup of tea.

Hope you’re having a good day!

Hi Adrienne,

Although I’m not a fan of reality TV (actually an anti-fan!), I admire Dan’s fortitude and his brilliance in putting together a product that so many will find useful. Although it’s not my cup of tea, there are millions of people who love the stuff, and to create a product like Dan has is amazing.

I wish him the very best of luck.

I am not a huge TV buff, and have never watched those shows, but am intrigued but the process and will certainly view his site, and read more. I am clueless to Spreecast (still a baby blogger/tech user in training ;-) ….but can read his story. Congrats to him on the win!
Now, as for the shows I DO watch: The Voice, AGT, X-Factor, Idol, So You Think You Can Dance; so, I am right there with you all in the over-the-top excitement for Christian and his endeavor!!! His talents are jaw-dropping amazing, and with the following he has…look out world! Can’t wait!

Ah so you do watch some reality TV and can you believe I forgot to include So You Think You Can Dance? I LOVE that show, it’s one of my favorites but I guess it slipped my mind because like Big Brother, it’s only on during the summer. Big Brother is on my mind because that’s the show Dan won. Where is my head! lol..

I can’t wait to see the look on Simon’s face when he hears Christian sing. Oh my goodness, I’m going to love watching that. What a talented and inspirational young man he is and I’m just thrilled beyond words for him. The blogging community is definitely going to have to come through for Christian when he makes it on the show. I’m definitely in! :-)

Thanks so much Cris, I really appreciate your comment and stopping by for a visit today! It’s been a pleasure.

OK OK OK ….. it goes something like this ……. I’m coding late at night and can’t quite find the trigger I need to launch the script …. I spend days in search of the answer, only to crash both Firefox and Chrome again and again, then at the end of three days of sleepless nights, I come to find that I never needed a trigger to launch the script to begin with ……… yes “Yoda Of WordPress Strikes Again”! This should take maybe three months of filming with the conclusion that I give up the coding insanity and run off to Fiji to become a dog groomer ……… Kayla? Kayla?

Talk about a “Survivor”! I’m sure to be a hit!

If they did a reality show on your life Jeffrey, I’m sure it wouldn’t be appropriate for the kids. The frustration I’m sure you feel a lot of times sitting at your desk fighting this kind of stuff would send any child over the edge! lol… They would be scared for life. lol…

So, you’re a reality TV addict, eh? ;) Do you really have the time to watch all these shows?

Don’t watch that much TV, but have always watched Survivor, since the very first season. I also enjoy The Amazing Race and it’s honestly the one show I wouldn’t mind being involved with because the participants travel the world. I think the last season was around 30K miles in 21 days or something like that. :)

Now I am slightly addicted to shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men.

If you make it on a show like Big Brother, I would certainly watch it. When’s your audition? ;)

I confess, I’m caught! Yeah, sort of… Luckily for me, they aren’t on all year round and at the same times. So yeah, I do find the time late at night or on the weekends.

So you’re watched Survivor from the beginning? I think I may have come in around season three.

Everyone keeps telling me the Amazing Race is such a cool show but I didn’t intend to watch the ones I did so I wasn’t going to start watching yet another one. SO little time ya know.

Well you can rest Craig because I’m not auditioning for any reality TV show. I’d rather watch everyone else make a fool out of themselves. lol… :-)

Great post Adrienne! I already told you a short story about myself lol I was a host for a local tv show before that showed in my city and 2 other cities. I was literally preparing myself to get on the big screen here in the Philippines. lol I have an uncle who is an actor, an uncle who is a well known director here, a cousin which is an actress, a bunch of close friends who are actors and a cousin which happens to be the number 1 actor and highest paid here in the Philippines. I was offered an audition but I had to turn it down. I was still a junior in high school that time and it was too much of a change for us to handle it at that time. It was definitely very close to happening though. Like very close! haha It was fun! Being V.I.P. all the time and all that. haha Also, whenever hanging out with these celebs, there’s a tendency people take pictures and all that haha

I don’t really watch that much tv but I’m familiar with the shows. I watch a couple of them mostly comedic ones. The Big Bang Theory and Entourage being my favs.

I was offered an audition for Pinoy Big Brother before. (the Filipino edition of big brother.) lol I’m happy where I’m at now though. I’m happy I got to experience just a lil bit of celeb life haha I’m working with passion now. :)

Great post Adrienne! :)

Thanks for sharing that with me again Pete… I think that’s fascinating and I’m sure your uncle and cousins enjoy what they do. They’re probably very passionate about acting.

My nephew did acting in school and although I’m prejudice, he is really really good. He gets excited doing that and he’s such a natural. I would be a nervous wreck but he didn’t enjoy some of his teachers during his senior year in high school and he kind of got a bad taste in his mouth for the whole acting thing because of that experience. I wish he would pursue it because I know he enjoys that part of it but he’s off working on a cruise ship right now entertaining the passengers so he’s having the time of his life.

Thanks again for sharing that part of you with us Pete. :-)

Hey Adrienne,

When it comes to TV shows I just don’t think I could do it. I don’t think I have the confidence.

As for as the shows go, being from the UK we have some versions of the ones you have i.e. Biggest Loser, Survivor and BB. We also have Geordie Shaw which I think is the equivalent to Jersey Shaw.

I have great respect for the guys on Biggest Loser and the people who join these shows to improve their lifestyle or personal goals.

As for as BB and other similar reality TV shows go, they are not for me. There are just some people who get on my nerves, and these shows bring them all out.

Now saying that, I’m sure Dan is a good guy. I have never seen him or the US BB but the comments section speaks highly of him. Your judgment for me means a lot, so well done for helping :-)

Lol I sound like a grumpy old man!

Hey Dan,

Get outta here! You? No confidence? That’s hard for me to believe…

I agree with you, I really admire the people who get on shows like the Biggest Loser to improve their lives. For me sometimes it’s hard to understand how someone could let themselves get that big but I also know so many people who were abused as a child and they hid behind weight. I’m also an emotional eater so I can sympathize with them in that respect, I just don’t take it to that extreme.

I know what you mean about them getting on your nerves. But I think that’s kind of what’s good about them. Some of those people I want to come through the TV and ring their neck but then I like to cheer for the underdog. I guess that’s why I enjoy watching them.

Dan is one of the good guys. He’s a Catholic school teacher for goodness sakes and now a blogger just like the rest of us building a business on the side. He really is a nice guy and I’m happy that we met.

You don’t sound like a grumpy old man. We all have our own opinions on things and I definitely respect them. I said this post would be a little different so I just appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts. It’s always a pleasure to see you Dan.

Hope you’re enjoying your day! :-)

Hi Adrienne, I just wanted to mention that my husband and I were watching Amazing Race last night. I told him that if he ever wanted to divorce me, he should convince me to sign up for that show with him. I told him it was nothing against him, but I hate travel hassles and I wouldn’t be a good companion on that show!

If you gave me a choice of being on Survivor vs. Amazing Race, it would be a tough call. I think I would choose Amazing Race and then just tank the first round on purpose!

Haha, well half of those programmes are new to me although I do recognize Big Brother on the list and X-Factor – I don’t mind the ones where there is an actual talent being discovered, but I must admit to having a bit of a loathing for shows where the people go on just to do something outrageous to get in the newspapers and in the gossip magazines.

Thanks for sharing,

Ah, you’re a Survivor love too! I hated Russell, still do. And he’s from my hometown too! Thank goodness I don’t think of the show and just think of him though, don’t want to taint my thoughts. I loved Boston Rob so I’m glad he came back and finally won the thing. Very deserving.

Dan’s product is brilliant even though I know you guys are the target market for this but let’s face it. Everyone has guilty pleasures and hidden agenda’s that they may not be sharing with others. You might also know of someone who would love to do something like this and they would have a much better shot learning from Dan’s mistakes. Oh, and his win too! :-)

Dan sounds like an awesome guy. I haven’t heard of him before, since I don’t watch the US version of Big Brother. I haven’t watch much of reality TV, the only show I do watch now is called The Voice, it’s almost like American Idol. I’m sure you got it in the US as well :)

What I really like about the things you’re describing about Dan is that he is teaching something a lot of people are doing and thinking about doing without any experience. His knowledge and experience is something all those people should use, before they sign up or even start to think about being a star on a reality tv show :)

They do have The Voice here and I was just talking to a friend of mine about that. I’ve never seen it but she loves it.

I agree Jens, Dan has not only gone through the process but gotten on a reality TV so and won the grand prize. Now that’s someone people should be learning from if they want to move in that direction. I have a feeling it’s only going to get better from here and this is just the beginning for him.

Thanks for commenting Jens, I appreciate it even if it was off topic today! Always a pleasure seeing you.

OK, I admit it … I am a closet Reality TV Show junkie. I never was until my now 13 year old was spending a lot of time home ill last year. We watched a lot of TV together, and he’s been a Reality TV show fan for a long time. I’ve lost count now of the ones we watch … Big Brother, Survivor, The Amazing Race, American Idol (though not anymore), Top Chef, Top Gun, Cupcake Wars, Project Runway, and our newest favorite, The Voice. Enough! But do I want to be in one? Mostly, no. But my 13 year old keeps suggesting I try out for The Amazing Race. With him. If they ever have a parent-child one. Don’t know if I could handle the stress. Nor cameras filming me in the wee hours of the morning with no make-up and bed-hair! lol But if he does succeed in getting me to apply to one, I now know where to look for “how to” instructions.

Ah, a closet reality TV junkie huh Carol! I can understand why having watched it with your son.

I agree with you… You want to film me at all hours of the day and I don’t care about the no makeup part because I’m not a big makeup wearer anyway. But the hair, oh no. I have so many bad hair days it’s not even funny. Plus, I’ve got to take a shower and brush my teeth so there is no way I could ever go any length of time without doing either of those. That’s just not for me girl.

But thanks for sharing that. Maybe when your son gets older he can try out for one. That would be fun Mom! :-)

Love it Adrieene,

Are you watching the current season? Really good start so far in my opinion.

I thought Russel was a brilliant strategist but not best person in the world. I try to look at the show as only a game, but I’m sure that real feelings and emotions can be hurt and broken. And I have no doubt Russel did that alot.

I also wanted to hear what you thought of our People Profiler tool. Harleena told me she tried running a profile about you. Curious if it turned out to match what you feel about yourself.

It was designed more for observed behavior so I’m curious if it would work with someone who is fairly open about themselves online like you.

Heck you just admitted to the world you like reality tv ;)

Looking forward to your thoughts,

Bryce

Yes, I am watching it and I don’t have any favorites yet.

Russell was an ass, there’s no nice way to put it. If that guy has watched the game before you can’t piss every single person off and expect to actually win the darn thing. I know it’s out whit, out smart and out play everyone but no one has won it that was hated by everyone on the jury. That’s just not smart so to me, he wasn’t brilliant at all. I actually loved that he came back again and they voted him off. I loved it and his nephew, Brandon, I was shaking my head the entire time.

I did get to read it Bryce, I had some personal issues at the end of last week that put me out of pocket. I finally got around to reading the report so although Harleena and I have never met, I think we have a pretty good feeling about each other. Mine was pretty good. I tried doing one for her and when I got to the end and hit the submit (or whatever it is), it kept telling me to complete all the questions. I had so I just refreshed the page several times trying it again but it wouldn’t go through. I haven’t been back to do it again, I’ve been playing catch up. I think you’ve done a great job with it though.

Oh yes, I’m open alright. Ask me anything and I’ll tell you the truth. Or my truth that is! :-)

Thanks Bryce and I’ll get back over there and try it again. I promise. You’re a doll for doing this and I have a feeling it will be a big hit!

Sorry to hear about your trouble with it. Sometimes there’s just one of the up or down arrows that didn’t go through.

Oh Benny, I remember Dan because he had pissed me off once when he spoke down to one of the elder gentleman on the show. I remember that so clearly but I know he just had a moment and they all do. But he did win it hands down because he played the game really well and didn’t get into any fights or heavy debates. That’s the way you have to do it.

Meeting him when you invited him to join the tribe I was a little star struck I admit. I thought that was so cool that I had actually watched his season and here he was. Now that I’ve gotten to know him a little better, he really is a great guy. I was thrilled to have a very small part in helping him develop his product, we all did in the mastermind group.

Hey Adrienne,
Sorry I had to comeback to comment. My computer froze on me last night.
I have only ever watched one reality show regularly. Big Brother. But it depends on the group on too. lol I did have the feeds too. (I got them after Mom) They filled the room with noise. I needed to drown out the deafening silence of the empty room. (lviving room) it was a tough time. So that was a help. I really just listened here and there. Though I have to say thank God Dan was NOT on Season 9! Holy Cow!… Easy to remember that group. OMG, I ended up turning it off, They were way over the top for this girl. lol Yuck!!. Dan’s season was the first time I really paid attention. Those feeds are a trip!. You see and hear everything and I mean everything..lol I listened and got to know quite a bit about Dan. I am so glad his book is getting good reviews from everyone!. I really respect and admire his values and his heart.
I think you would do great on Survivor! why not?! Come on! lol Me, I think Really, Big Brother would love to get me on. Let’s see, I lived a very sheltered life for 10 yrs of taking care of my Mom and really before that as well so I’m now kind of finding out who Colleen is and I’m a very religous person, (Catholic), I lost 130 pounds and oh yes, I’ve never dated before. I think even Dan would tell me I had a pretty good shot of getting on lol But I don’t lie very well, my face turns red lol that could be a problem lol

Hey Colleen,

No problem, I lost internet connection yesterday and it’s frustrating trying to get it all back up and running.

I’ve never subscribed to the feeds, not that into it that I want to watch them all day and night. The show is enough for me. I started watching it I believe around season three. Some I definitely liked better than others and some of the contestants I couldn’t stand. But that’s reality TV I guess.

Well then girl, you need to give it a go on Big Brother. You definitely have someone now that can give you the inside scoop. I think that would be a trip. :-)

Hi Adrienne
Dan sounds like a cool guy, mind having half a million dollars would make you pretty cool. :) When we are into Internet Marketing we can get cocooned into a mindset which revolves around products which relate to list building, blogs, making money etc.. It does us good to be reminded there are products available which refer to the ‘real world’ as it were.

I am not into reality TV, I am more of a sci-fi and history fan. I suppose if they did a reality show about Captain Kirk in King Henry VIII’s court I might watch it, although what the Tudors would make of Mr Spock and the Klingons I can’t imagine,

Barry

Hey Barry,

He is really, really nice too! I say the prize money would be sweet Barry! The best part of being stuck in a house with strangers for three months.

You are so right, there is way more out there then just internet marketing products. Things real people are dying to get their hands on. That’s what’s so cool about his product I think. There are so many reality TV shows now and people are dying to get on them. He’s definitely got the inside scoop.

That’s too funny Barry! Yeah, maybe that’s something you could come up with ya think! lol… Okay, maybe not!

Thanks Barry, always a pleasure to hear from you. Hope your day is going well.

Thanks for commenting, always a pleasure.

I personally hate the reality shows, the most of them is pure brainwash fulfilled with ads. The actors aren’t really interesting people, they are only some PITAs. I understand it, that these kind of tv-shows are the cheapest to produce, and they are popular, because there are fit and sexy people in it, and sometimes there’s already sex on the screen. panem et circenses.

Hey Julie,

Reality TV shows don’t have actors, they are real people. Hence, reality TV!

Obviously you watch some reality TV that I don’t because The Biggest Loser does NOT have any sexy people on them. Maybe the trainers are looking good but the majority of the time they are just wearing their workout stuff that is not skin tight. I would have to say the same for the rest of the ones that I watch so not quite sure which ones you are talking about.

But Julie, it’s obviously not for everyone!

Adrienne,
So true Adrienne. it’s not very sexy to watch the biggest loser where everyone is sweating and bounding around and suffering. SO UN SEXY.. But rather inspirational at how the contestants have to hit almost rock bottom and then rebuild their lives through healthier living.

But i want to know where all the sexy reality tv shows are at. I would totally watch that. Lifes to short to take everything too seriously… So gimme gimme gimme

Yeah Annie, I’m with you. Shows like the Biggest Loser where they’re trying to overcome obstacles that they are challenged with in their lives right now is inspiring to me. Then with American Idol these kids are talented and just want a shot. I so admire them for being brave enough to take all the criticism that’s being thrown at them.

I don’t watch Survivor to watch the guys take their shirts off because usually as soon as they do, their true personalities come out and trust me, they instantly become very unattractive in my eyes. The very few that are worth watching I suppose.

Obviously I’ve never seen any of the shows Julie is speaking of so I just can’t relate to what she’s saying. I guess they’re out there but I’ve never seen them. Huh… I could stand to watch some eye candy! Oh yeah!!!

The only reality TV I pretend to want to be on is Wipeout, but just long enough so I can see what it’s like to jump across the big red balls. I like to watch the roadkill of reality TV but I don’t want to BE the roadkill! But if you are ever on reality TV, I will totally watch and vote for you.

OMG Carol, you’d pretend to be on Wipeout! Those people are slammed. I feel sorry for them and it really looks like it hurts when they are knocked off. I’ve seen it a few times while at a friends house. He tried to get me to watch it but I just couldn’t get into watching people get clobbered. That’s just not enjoyable to me at all to watch.

You’d watch if I were on one! Ah, thanks Carol but no way in hell girl. lol… Oh no, I’m not going to be on national TV for everyone to talk about. I’ll stay over here in my own little world! ;-)

Ah, you’re a movie buff Warren. Not me, I don’t have time to sit down and watch a two hour movie a good bit of the time I’m afraid. I guess I could but I don’t enjoy a lot of the ones they come out with these days.

I’m not as “everywhere” as I use to be Warren. I spend a lot of time on my computer but I have my moments and there are still things I want to do. So I just do them and it’s really a lot of fun.

We have a LOT of phrases here in Texas Warren. I keep forgetting sometimes but I remember when I use to watch Dr. Phil. He lives in Dallas so people would be surprised about some of the things he came up with but that’s just the way we phrase things here. Maybe I need to do a definition on some of this some time.

Okay, get to work. Thanks for stopping by, it’s always a pleasure to see you!

Thanks for introducing me to Dan!

I ain’t a fan of reality TV much; I do watch Idol now and then, but not regularly. I started watching Bigg Boss (the Indian version of Big Brother) and stopped when there was just too much of negativity and fighting for cheap publicity. Got too much of a trouble to keep tabs on why they are fighting and all.

Biggest Loser is something I have meant to watch but haven’t got around to actually doing it! Will have to download a season and see it!

Christian is going to be auditioning for the X factor auditions; looks like we will have another star amongst us! ;)

Have a lovely day!

You are welcome Hajra, hope you get a chance to chat with him.

I don’t enjoy the fighting and bickering either Hajra… I guess maybe they just don’t share a lot of that on the shows I watch. Don’t get me wrong, a good fight makes great TV in their eyes but I guess I just steer away from all the drama. I’m so past all of that in my life that I don’t find it entertaining at all.

I love the Biggest Loser because most people get to that point because of things that have happened to them in their lives. Oh sure, some people have an addiction to food but one season they had a lady on there Hajra who lost her entire family. He husband, little boy and brand new baby girl were killed in a car accident and to say that she went over the edge is an understatement. Most people have something tragic that has happened to them so they comfort themselves with food. Not only do they lose the weight but they deal with their issues and the transformations are so impressive. I’m over here just rooting for them.

You betcha, we’re going to have another celebrity among us. I always told him that I get to say I knew him when. lol… I’m so proud of him and I don’t watch that show but I will just for him. So be prepared, I’m sure a blog post will be coming. :-)

Thanks Hajra and hope you’ve had a very lovely day!

Adrienne, aloha. As I believe I may have mentioned, though we have a TV, we do not have cable so know TV programming would come through. We only have the TV so Jim can watch movies. Thus, I have never seen a Reality Show.

While I am not secretly addicted to Reality Shows, I certainly recognize that many people are. And, if they are not interested in being on one, would be fascinated to learn the behind the scenes info. Adrienne, I think Dan’s idea is a winner and with you to help him, he is well on his way to success.

Wishing Dan all the best. Aloha. Janet

I think at our age, I find it odd that people are so addicted to reality TV but I know it’s also geared toward the younger crowd. Sure, there are plenty of people of all ages on these shows.. I think maybe the younger generation just find them a lot more fun, who knows.

Thanks Janet for commenting even though this isn’t your “thing”. I appreciate the support and I’m sure Dan does as well. I know he has a winner on his hands.

Hi Adrienne,

How cool is that? Masterminding with a master marketer, because that’s what Dan is.

Not a big fan of reality TV but I always learn lessons from these folks. They become popular and make money for a reason: awesome salesmanship. Most look past these lessons, but I always spot ‘em ;)

I used to model for a bit. Super interesting time of my life which introduced me to real showmanship. I did not have it at the time, as I lacked confidence, but some of the top guys taught me super lessons in presentation, flair and making an epic impression that people just can’t forget.

Thanks for sharing Adrienne!

Hi Ryan,

Absolutely, and what a pleasure it’s been too. Learning so many things in this group and the support is awesome. Dan is top notch guy and I’m honored to know him.

I don’t see you as a reality TV kind of guy to be honest with you. You’re too busy enjoying life and jet setting off to foreign countries. Just like Janet who lives in Hawaii, I sure wouldn’t be sitting in front of a TV if I lived someplace like that. Oh heck no! I’d be out enjoying everything I possibly could all the darn time.

Wow Ryan, what an experience. I hear modeling can be brutal but like you said, you received some valuable lessons from it so that in itself was probably worth the time spent. I think there are lessons to be learned from everything wouldn’t you agree?

I appreciate you commenting Ryan even though it’s not your cup of tea. You are a true sport.

Have a wonderful day Ryan and thanks again. :-)

Hi Adrienne,
to be honest, I never loved reality shows. I think that privacy is an important aspect in life, and sharing absolutely everything with the world is just too much for me. And let’s not mention all those inappropriate situations we can see in reality shows. Although I understand that they make a lot of money, in my opinion, watching them is a complete time loss.
But, I support the fact that you want to help Dan and of course, and I want to congratulate you for your success. I didn’t know that you were in a movie. :)

Hi Danijela,

I can understand what you mean but there are so many different types of reality TV today. I’ve never watched on like you’re suggesting so nothing has been inappropriate at all. And it’s not following their lives 24/7 so I guess I’m just out of the loop when it comes to shows like that.

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this Danijela even if you aren’t a fan.

Thanks a bunch and I’m hoping the movie will be released next year with good reviews. We’ll see…

Hi again Adrienne,
I agree with you on this. I was talking about 24/7 shows like Big Brother. I am not really a fan of Survivor neither. But I agree that American Idol, The Biggest Loser and Home Sweet Home for example are great shows. These shows have my vote because they are really changing people’s lives in a good way.

I don’t watch the 24/7 feed on Big Brother, I’m not that addicted to it. So I don’t see a lot of what goes on behind the scenes. I have a life you know! :-)

But these others are inspiring I must admit and much more enjoyable to watch everyday people changing their lives. So inspiring…

Thanks Danijela and hope you are doing well.

Let’s face it, we’ve all watched reality TV programming at one time or another… so many of us are afraid to admit it sometimes. I got really hooked on Survivor, tried to watch Big Brother but it never really appealed to me… American Idol has gone downhill in my opinion since Simon left. Instead, I like The Voice, and I’m looking forward to the next season of America’s Got Talent. There are certainly more and more opportunities for people who want to get on a reality TV show, whether you have talent or not…. Reality TV programs are among the most popular of all shows these days, and the emergence of new themes never ceases to amaze me!

Hi Steve,

I would say you are right but I actually have some friends that don’t even own a TV anymore. I can’t even imagine that! lol…

I know what you mean about the different shows. I don’t think American Idol has gone down at all although I’ve very disappointed with the top choices this year. What were they thinking! I LOVE that Simon is gone actually and think that Steve Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are adding something new and fresh to this. In my opinion, you don’t have to be rude and nasty to get your point across which is what Simon did. But, that’s just my opinion.

Reality TV is popular because it doesn’t cost that much for them to produce. Okay, American Idol, Survivor and the Big Race are a little different but for the most part they aren’t very elaborate. I guess for us sitting at home, we like to see “normal” everyday people on TV because in the back of our minds we’re thinking that could be us. For that I’ll probably keep on watching it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic.

I love that you use your blog to support your friends. I think it still fits your brand, because helping people be famous is what you do for bloggers, too :D

What’s really interesting is Reality TV is like… the most watched form of TV in the west. So what are the chances the people beside you DON’T watch it?

Now, I don’t own a TV, and stream most of my media, and reality TV factors in very, very little.

But I do watch it. I fully admit to it.

I just have different takeaways than most people.

I watch it to understand celebrity and fame. I watch it to understand cultural fascination. I watch it to learn how they craft refined emotional experiences from ‘dull reality’. There is a ton of value in reality TV, beyond the emotional hit of vicarious living, if we’re paying attention.

50 Cent’s show, The Kardashians, AGT, and more all interest me, and at the same time I’ll totally check out any of them that call to me, just to see (It’s All About Amy, Celebrity Big Brother, Jersey Shore, etc.)

Hot button topic ;)

Like you, there are some people who don’t own a TV. Very few that is and a lot are going to the internet to watch shows or movies now. Good to hear that you still do find some time to sneak a few peaks in there from time to time. You have to admit, it’s just entertaining.

You are so unique in your own way Jason. Your mind works differently then most so I can see why you may be drawn to some of those shows. I personally find them annoying but I don’t think like you do. So I can live through your experiences and sharing right!

Thanks Jason, always enjoy hearing your thoughts on what I have to share. Now, enjoy your day and have a fabulous weekend okay!

Oh it’s certainly entertaining, Hollywood’d be flat on it’s face and all out of jobs if they couldn’t deliver entertainment. They’re in the entertainment business after all :)

I pay attention because I see my job as more than that. I see myself entertaining, enlightening, and energizing, all at once, and not necessarily in that order ;)

Of course, we all exist to help each other experience more and broaden!

I’ve gotten “J, you’re unique” and “J, you’re mind is so cool” quite a number of times before, and it only seems to be growing. Which is good, because it’s part of my intentions — One of the most satisfying things in the world is to be seen, known and recognized in ways you see yourself.

Thank you so much for saying so :D And you rock on too, Adrienne :)

You definitely are on the right track about that Jason… I see what you’re getting at.

I had a guy call me yesterday who is a 7 figure income earner in the online industry and he actually opted into my blog. Talk about doing the happy dance over here. He told me when he opted in that he was expecting to see that video of me because that’s what people want. They want to see me because they are attracted to my personality so I need to let more of that come out in my videos. So that’s the path I’m on now to step it up a notch so I can start attracting more people to my videos as well as my blog.

So I’m with you my friend and we can all learn from those who are successful at it right!

I don’t think I would want the world knowing my personal life, but I think money is a driving force why so many people entertain the luxury of having the world watch you daily. Ah yes, a little movie shot right here in my hometown. When and if it is ever released I’ll definitely share it with everyone. My little two minutes of fame. I just signed up to be an extra but he ended up giving me a speaking part because of my personality. But then he ended up not shooting that scene due to things being rearranged at the last minute which was fine with me. But my one scene is still in there, for the time being that is. :-)

Ah, you like Real Housewives? Which one? I did watch some of New Jersey but darn girl, I can’t stand all that pettiness. I know, that’s what people love apparently but not me. You’re right, they are CRAZY!!!

My Mom is a golf fanatic and I’m sure she’d love that show. She’s been playing for about 40 years now. Ah yeah, she’s still good. :-) You two would have a lot to talk about. Hey, I know what a birdie is and an eagle. I know the game I just don’t play.

My parents always had the golf games on and to me, boring!!! Then I dated a guy years ago and we were invited to one of the big tournaments they had here in Houston so I found that so much more exciting then to watch on TV. But I still don’t play. Glad you enjoy it though. So many people do.

Morris, it depends how ‘literal’ you are.

Reality TV can be a fun term that means = “less scripted, less produced, less traditional shows, but still entertaining drama”

or

Reality TV can mean = “hey, this show is 100% objective truth, which is as solid as science and fact – but televised.”

or something else altogether. Your call what it means for you :)

His story and what he had to go through was fascinating in itself. At least grab his story, you’ll enjoy it.
